    Hello!

I recently bought a plot with a cottage and a well. Recently, I have been tired of the high water level - about 110 cm below the ground level. I have basements so I'm afraid they might get flooded.
I was looking for some simple instrument - non-electric for continuous measurement - so that I could approach the water level at any moment, without opening the hatch (sweeping leaves, needles, etc. - the well gets dirty).
I didn't find anything like that so I came up with something like this Measuring Water Level in a Well: Non-Electric Continuous Measurement Tool for 110 cm Depth

    And how does it work?

The simplest solution is a float connected to a plastic pole. Pole led out through a piece of plastic pipe mounted in the cover of a concrete well.
Multi-colored stripes can be painted on the pole, e.g. every 10cm. You don't even have to go to the well to read the water level.

I thought about it too. Except that the pole would have to be about 4 m. At a high level, it would protrude over two meters above the hatch. I have tree branches above the hatch.

You can choose the pole so that it starts showing from the dangerous level, how the level will be lower, it will just hang in the well :) .
