I would like it to meet the following requirements:
o Current measurement DC and variable.
o The clamps are small in size so that I can press into the wiring harness.
o Possibility of as many different measurements as possible.
o Measurement of the instantaneous current during switching on.
o Current measurement up to 600A is enough for me.
o Any brand of the meter.
    o Price.
    o Long battery life.
o It is best if it is powered by LR3 (6) batteries.

    600A in the wiring harness?

    Hello!
I use the UT-204 occasionally (only max 400A), it's cheap and in most works it is enough only once a year, I have to set it to "0" and don't regret damaging it.
For higher currents (AC) Gossen PL-Flex comfortable with Rogowski coils and max 20kA,
and a little lower LEM-Flex RR3000 (also AC)

I have the UT-201 and it works too. If you do not care about True RMS, the price difference is significant. There are also other differences, but you have to compare for yourself.

With this current, the colleague did not overdo it?

If it's for me about the 20kA
"With this current, the colleague did not overdo it?"
it is in three ranges: 200A / 2kA / 20kA and the fact that I only had to turn on the latter twice.

I have a voltcraft vc-531, I recommend it, clamps for measurements of direct and alternating current + small multimeter

I would like to thank the esteemed group for suggestions regarding the recommended meter.
    As a last resort, I bought a UT-204 meter.
After a short use, I can tell you about one weight that I noticed,
these are microscopic symbols of the scope of work.
To be fully happy in this measure, I miss:
o PEAK HOLD - peak value measurement
o Indication of the phase rotation direction.
Well, but for this money I don't think you can buy anything better,
and such a CHAUVIN ARNOUX F205 meter for occasional measurements is too expensive.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around finding the best clamp meter that meets specific requirements, including the ability to measure both DC and AC currents up to 600A, compact clamp size for accessibility in wiring harnesses, multifunctionality, and long battery life, preferably powered by LR6 batteries. Users recommend several models, including the KYORITSU KEWMATE 2000, UT-204, UT-201, and Voltcraft VC-531. The UT-204 is noted for its affordability and sufficient functionality for occasional use, although some users mention limitations such as small display symbols and lack of features like peak hold and phase rotation indication. The Gossen PL-Flex and LEM-Flex RR3000 are also mentioned for higher current measurements. Overall, the discussion highlights the balance between cost and functionality in selecting a clamp meter.
