    Hello,
I can not cope with the counter Audi A3 8P 8P0920951G.
The counter is dead, although the MCU gets a voltage, the oscillator works, but after the power is applied, CAN LO and CAN HI give a continuous voltage of approx. 3V for about 2 seconds. It should send a dozen or so frames during this time.
From what I read it is quite a typical fault, but I have not found any specific information.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    greetings

I did as you suggested in PW, it didn't help.
I read that a common glitch in this counter is the MCU going into deep sleep, apparently after combining with FTDI or DP clones. Unfortunately, I have no contact with the client, so I don't know if anything like that happened.
If this is the cause, how do I fix / check it? I do not have DP3, it goes to me by an extremely circular road. I only have CarProg and Xprog 5.70.

I have the same problem with clocks, they are completely dead. Should the clocks show anything after connecting the power supply to pins 1,2 and 18 and grounding to 3,4 and 19? Is it necessary to connect CAN and other modules?

without can, nothing will be displayed, but communication and diagnosis must be. As after the attempt to correct the corrections they are dead, the flash has broken, repair after the OBD.

They were not taken apart and the correction was not made either. Over the course of two weeks, they did not turn on every few activations until they died completely. I will check today if I have communication. I got a hint that it usually rains only on a large plate with clocks. Is it true?

Have you ever got to the bottom of this did you fix this cluster I have one with the same problem

Topic summary

The discussion addresses a common fault in the Audi A3 8P instrument cluster (part number 8P0920951G) where the speedometer is non-functional despite the MCU receiving voltage and the oscillator operating. The issue involves the CAN bus lines (CAN LO and CAN HI) showing a steady voltage (~3V) for about two seconds after power-up, instead of transmitting multiple CAN frames. This symptom suggests a communication failure possibly linked to the MCU entering a deep sleep mode, potentially triggered by interactions with FTDI or DP clone devices. Attempts to revive the cluster by power supply alone are ineffective without CAN bus communication. The flash memory may be corrupted, requiring repair via OBD diagnostics. Some users report progressive failure over multiple power cycles until complete shutdown. There is also mention of moisture ingress ("it is raining") on the main circuit board as a possible cause. Tools referenced for diagnosis and repair include CarProg and Xprog 5.70, with DP3 noted as unavailable. The cluster requires proper CAN bus connection to function and display data.
