Hello. The drivers on the road showed the error EDC 2 03946-03 the car weakened, after a while the error went out and the car started to drive normally. From what I read, the error is related to the charge air cooler. Auto is Man TGM 18.290 engine d0836lfl64 euro5. Please help interpret the error.

Thank you. Does this information regarding the signal say that you should look for recharging in the cables from the pressure sensor because the signal is out of range or there is no current or it says an incorrect value (but the currents are ok), i.e. a fault somewhere in the inlet? I practically do not make manów, so I am not used to such a structure of errors and maybe someone who has contact with it will guide me immediately. Thanks for the answers.

Hello, after a long break. Unfortunately, the problem could not be solved. In the meantime, the car began to eject the liquid and the charge air cooler (intake) with thermostats was replaced with it. New original parts. It stops throwing out the liquid but the power is limiting. The turbine control valve has been replaced. The currents reach the valve, the air pressure too, the bar on the turbo works smoothly. We noticed that the error and power cut occurs at the intake air temperature of 81 degrees, sensor replacement and the same situation but at 83 degrees. It always cuts off the power at this extreme temperature. After it cools down, it is ok until it is reached. The service checked the site and claims that it is ok. Please help, because they are all over it. Best regards.

You have 2 boost valves in your engine, when replacing the boost cooler they put a special valve (you will see it on the second cooler at the top) and hoses to protect the boost cooler?
Dismantle the agr flap cylinder only and take a ride if nothing changes after replacing the second sensor.

There are two sensors (each of them measures the pressure and temperature in a given place, one of them is behind the turbine and the other is on the top-up cooler), but there is one valve limiting the turbine boost pressure. I changed the sensors but the indications did not change. There is another temperature sensor on the collector acting on the resistance. I put a resistor to show 70 degrees all the time but cut off the power based on the values of those sensors. I detached the agr cylinder and tied the flap in the closed position, but no changes. In general, the car heats up very quickly to operating temperature, even without a thermostat. Is a possible dirty radiator wreaking such havoc? There are two coolers, but connected with each other by thin wires, but it is possible that one of them is from the engine and the other from the top-up? They are linked so it is possible that there are quite a few leaves between them.
More I will not ask about the protection of the coolers - it is in your interest if you have installed a valve on the pipes because if the situation repeats you have air coolers to replace

The cooler was installed in an authorized service center, because it started throwing out the liquid and the temperature jumped, so immediately the nearest service center was taken and it was taken right away. I hope the service is set up by this valve. Can you tell me where exactly he is to be? So I have a two-year warranty for top-up air coolers, so they would rather not shoot themselves in the knee

Problem has been solved. I got a bearing on a mechanic familiar with mana. Software processing (according to information not necessarily successful in this model) and the car flashes like gold. Fuel consumption has dropped a lot because in the end the engine works as it should and the car works until you want to go. For those interested, I can give the number on priv.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the EDC error code 2 03946-03 related to the charge air cooler in a MAN TGM 18.290 with a D0836LFL64 Euro5 engine. The user reported intermittent power loss and error display, which was linked to the high-pressure charge air cooler. Responses suggested checking the intercooler connections, monitoring the thermostat and shut-off valve, and verifying signal integrity from pressure sensors. After replacing the charge air cooler and associated components, the issue persisted, particularly at high intake air temperatures. Ultimately, a software update resolved the problem, restoring engine performance and reducing fuel consumption.
