    Hello,
I just picked up a new Lenovo laptop without a pre-installed system. I thought that there would be no problem with it, because I installed windows with flash drives more than once. While loading installation files, the process is interrupted and a fatal error c000021a pops up. I read many threads of people who had this problem, but none of them helped me. I played a little with the BIOS settings, but to no avail, the same thing every time. I am asking for quick help, because nothing annoys like a new useless laptop on the table. It probably doesn't matter, but the disk is SSD. Installation is fine because the second laptop fires easily. Thanks in advance

Hello. Maybe the boot mode is set incorrectly?

That's how I set up booting from a pendrive. While loading installation I get this error. And soon I will see this program and let you know.

Read about installing windows 7 on UEFI and it will light up a bit. Unless you want to install in legacy mode. I will forget that you didn't even specify what kind of laptop it is, so you can't tell if it is compatible with Windows 7 at all!

What is the formatting of the disk supposed to ???

@piterrr_ after all, the author wrote that the installer loads files, so after asking about booting?

@sylweksylwina formatting nothing, but deleting a partition is required and creating new ones, especially since Freedos is now there.

But it's still worth starting with the laptop model.

With the new Intel Windows 7 platform does not go hand in hand.
W7 cannot be installed via USB, because Intel instead of EHCI introduced xHCI, which causes a problem / the inability to install Windows 7 from portable memory using this interface, because there is no code to support it.

And there is a problem. The pendrive is well booted, because on an old laptop the installation starts. With Legacy support / UEFI First mode, the blue screen crashes as before. However, with UEFI what you see in the picture. OS Optimized Defaults to be enabled?

If I have to do it from a CD, I can drive to the store and buy a blank CD until midnight, because I don't have it ...: /

    EDIT:
So yes ... I have completely formatted the disk and installed Windows 10 with usb in UEFI mode. Thank you all for your commitment and help.

Topic summary

A user encountered a fatal error (c000021a) while attempting to install Windows 7 Pro on a new Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IKB laptop without a pre-installed operating system. Despite previous successful installations on other laptops using flash drives, the installation process was interrupted. Suggestions included formatting the SSD using GParted LiveCD, checking boot mode settings (UEFI vs. Legacy), and ensuring compatibility with Windows 7, particularly due to Intel's xHCI interface issues. The user ultimately resolved the problem by formatting the disk and successfully installing Windows 10 in UEFI mode.
