    Hello.
    I would like to know how to choose a working capacitor for a motor. From the information found on the internet I found such patterns:
    C [uF] = (1300 ÷ 2600) × P [W] / U?
    C [uF] = 70uF / 1kW
    C [uF] = 60 * ?P [kW]
    My question is which formula should I use because each capacitor has different capacities?

    Down what engine? Adapted to work with a capacitor or three-phase? Because it is a difference.

    I'm afraid that none, because the capacitor capacity depends not only on the power and voltage of the motor supply, but also on the way the windings are arranged in the motor, the angle of offset of the starting winding relative to the working one, etc.

    I also know from experience that motors with similar parameters, but from different manufacturers, used different capacities of starting capacitors.

    And how does the selection of a capacitor work in a single-phase motor? In new engines, we can probably find it in the catalogs, and what about old machines when we only have the nameplate?
