Is it Possible to Authorize Telegram Desktop Program Without a Phone Number?

Is installation or authorization of the "Telegram Desktop" program possible?
without providing a phone number, I am against "shuffling" my phone number because it is not known who and where will use it .

I want to use "Telegram" only on a desktop computer, I really care about contacting participants of a foreign forum through this program. Since I have a google account and my phone is there, I thought I would install Telegram as a google account extension, it normally goes to the bar but still wants a phone number ...

If you have internet from a mobile operator (e.g. Plus), this internet is in fact a sim card with a phone number assigned to it. You can easily receive text messages (even send) by logging into the router. By entering this number for authorization, you eliminate the problem of unwanted telephones, etc. (calls cannot be made to them). I missed some forced phone number entries myself.

And how is this in practice? - I want to receive information via a "Telegram" from Mexico, USA etc. Who is the administrator? How can I check it?
And in general why is there a request for a phone number? You can't make calls without it?

I am identifiable by IP number but you are right we accept the terms or not ... , nobody forces you. On the other hand, I do not want to communicate over the phone, only a desktop computer and do not even communicate only to receive information one way, as if e-mails were coming.
