    Hello!

The drum bearing in my washing machine is damaged and worn out. My washing machine is Ariston HotPoint WMSD 723 B EU. A bit for sport and with the will to try my hand, I decided to start replacing it, and if we fail, we buy a washer-dryer ;)

Not having much to lose, I took out the drum, and it wasn't easy (drum inserted from the top), unscrewed the counterweights (terrible springs instead of the usual screws) and cut the plastic drum casing (drilled holes for screws earlier). So far, the repair meets all my expectations, i.e. I have a lot of fun with it and as for my debut in repairing the washing machine, I am very happy, but there was a problem.

The drum doesn't want to come out of the bearing. And here I have a question, is it just a matter of strength and you have to hit it solidly for the drum to fall out, or maybe Ariston has prepared another surprise (the first was the springs on the counterweight) and maybe there is a trick here, or maybe the drum is non-removable.

I just had the same problem with Electrolux. The solid pounding helped, but unfortunately the inner bearing came out with the axis of the drum and it also torn a piece of plastic around the bearing seat. Now I'm having trouble taking this bearing off the shaft. We'll see how it ends. And you finally managed to beat that drum?

Well, unfortunately, I gave up the topic - for two reasons.

First of all, the ring and the bearing were sitting really firmly and even when you tried to hit it hard, the whole thing practically did not budge.

Secondly, it turned out that the manufacturer (Ariston) does not sell repair kits in the form of separate bearings for this model. Only a drum is sold (but the price of PLN 550 for a washing machine worth a little over PLN 1,000 is a bit scary).

As for the bearings, it is true that there are bearings on the market with the same or similar markings (the inscription on the original 6204Z), but I decided that buying a bearing in the dark, waiting for the shipment would take too much time and is too risky for a mistake ... and with us, with two small children, without a working washing machine, we can't move.

By the way, I show you how this world is twisted, everyone is honking about ecology, and here a washing machine goes to the trash, because the bearing for PLN 50 has been damaged.

Well, unfortunately, I also see that ecology is only a marketing smoke and the main thing is to sell new devices. As I look at the prices of parts, they are several times more expensive than the entire device. I understand this is to discourage repairs.
I have the bearings, now I'm just struggling to remove the old ones from the drum shaft because, unfortunately, the bearing came out during striking together with the drum and sits firmly on the axis :(

Perhaps someone will need bearing sizes for this washing machine
    So there are two bearings, one is 6204 z, the other is 6205 z and a seal 30 x 52 x 8.5/10.5
The casing is screwed together and the washing machine has a new life

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the challenges faced while replacing the drum bearing in a Hotpoint Ariston WMSD723 B EU washing machine. The user initially succeeded in removing the drum but encountered difficulties in detaching it from the bearing, which was firmly seated. Responses suggest using a rubber mallet for additional force, but caution is advised as improper handling can damage components. One participant shared their experience with a similar issue in an Electrolux machine, where the inner bearing came out with the drum, complicating the repair. The original poster ultimately abandoned the repair due to the unavailability of separate bearing kits from Ariston, which only offers a complete drum replacement at a high cost. Another user provided the bearing sizes for the machine, indicating that two bearings (6204Z and 6205Z) and a seal (30 x 52 x 8.5/10.5) are required for the repair.
