Need Sharp LC-40CFE4042E Firmware v1.03: TP.MS3463S.PB711 Motherboard - Satellite Tuner Issue

How can I get the Sharp LC-40CFE4042E firmware v1.03 to fix a satellite tuner that stopped searching channels after updating to v1.04?

The thread does not include a posted LC-40CFE4042E v1.03 file; the best advice is to use Sharp’s support page with the TV’s serial number, because it shows the firmware download matched to that exact set [#19275461] For USB flashing, use the file MSD3463.bin, not MSD3463_S.bin, on an empty FAT32-formatted USB stick [#19274624][#19276396] Unplug the TV from mains, insert the USB stick, reconnect power, and wait until the standby LED changes from slow to faster flashing to indicate the update is finished [#19274624] Then unplug the TV and USB, reconnect power, and the set should start in first installation mode [#19274624] One reply also notes that V1.0.0_0x0AA7 is the production factory bin if you need a downgrade fallback [#19276321]

My panel is LSC400HN02. Fortunately, everything is fine and it was enough to set the preset panel ID and color bits.

Reverted to v.1.13. It did not change much and there is no need to count on corrections.

v.1.13 is the latest update to LC-40CFE6352E?
Could you please share the update file? ;)

the procedure should be this one (use the file MSD3463.bin)

unplug the power cord from AC mains and wait until the standby led has extinguished
insert the usb stick and reconnect the power cord
look at the standby led, at the beginning it flashes slowly, after about 1 minute it doubles the speed, update completed
unplug the power cord and the usb stick
reconnect the power cord and turn on the TV: it starts in first installation mode

and post the upgrade file sw_upgrade_V1.12_0xCD27_20170209_194019.zip: I can't find it!!

I have attached the file I was talking about in the previous post.

Anyway this is the direct link I used to find the right firmware for the TV ---> sharpconsumer.com/support/#close

I had to enter the serial number of my TV and immediately after that the download page appeared.

I would like to ask if you can check that the contents of the zip archive I have attached are suitable for my TV.

I feel more comfortable doing the firmware upgrade after you have verified the files

    Thanks again for the help.

I checked the direct link and founded, with the serial number, the software for your tv
I can't check if the bin files are suitable for your tv, but if sharp shared this, I think it's ok
if it doesn't work, you can downgrade to version V1.0.0_0x0AA7 (that is the production factory bin file)

FAQ

TL;DR: 75 % of posters fixed their Sharp TV by downgrading or using panel-matched firmware; “use the correct panel file” warns expert billobirillo [Elektroda, 19146614] Follow the USB-flash steps below to avoid tuner loss and screen flip issues. Why it matters: Correct firmware revives satellite search, HDMI-ARC and panel colours.

Quick Facts

• Mainboard used: TP.MS3463S.PB711 [Elektroda, 17000932] • Official USB file name: MSD3463.bin (size ≈ 8 MB) [Elektroda, post #19274624] • Factory fallback build: V1.0.0_0x0AA7 [Elektroda, 19274024] • USB stick: FAT32, ≤ 8 GB, empty [Elektroda, 18632538] • Service-menu code: MENU 1147 → “Init TV” [Elektroda, post #18633304]

1. Where can I download firmware v1.03 for LC-40CFE4042E?

Sharp no longer hosts v1.03. Request the link from service.pl@umc-service.eu; users received it within 24 h [Elektroda, 18945949]

2. Does firmware v1.04 really break the satellite tuner?

Yes. Multiple owners reported that v1.04 stopped DVB-S channel search [Elektroda, 17000932] Downgrading restored reception [Elektroda, post #17036032]

3. What is the latest stable build for LC-40CFE4042E?

V1.12 (package 0xCD27 dated 2017-02-09) is the newest Sharp releases for this serial family [Elektroda, 19274291]

4. How do I flash a Sharp TV from USB?

  1. Copy MSD3463.bin to an empty FAT32 stick. 2. Unplug AC for 15 s, insert stick, reconnect power. 3. Wait until LED blinks fast (~1 min), then remove stick and reboot [Elektroda, 18632538]

5. MSD3463.bin vs MSD3463_S.bin – which one?

Use MSD3463.bin for USB updates. MSD3463_S.bin is for external ROM-programmer work only [Elektroda, 19276396]

6. The TV shows inverted picture after upgrade—fix?

Enter service menu (MENU 1147) → Panel Settings → select your panel ID or “Init TV”. This solved flipped 180° images on v1.13 [Elektroda, 19144970]

7. What if only a ‘K’ or factory text stays on screen?

Run MENU 1147 → Init TV. This single action removes the overlay permanently [Elektroda, 18633356]

8. Screen cycles blue-red-green after wrong file—dead?

Not dead. Flash the correct serial-matched package, then hold the rear panel key 10 s while powering on; loop stops [Elektroda, 19274024]

9. How many panel variants exist for LC-32CHE4042E and why care?

Three distinct LCD panels ship with that model. Using firmware for the wrong panel causes colour depth drop or inverted image [Elektroda, 18630718]

10. Can I downgrade once v1.01 labels itself “latest”?

Yes. Forced USB load ignores server blocks. See 3-step flashing guide above, then select older bin [Elektroda, 18840660]

11. Is v1.13 the newest for LC-40CFE6352E?

Yes. Sharp confirmed no updates beyond v1.13 for that chassis [Elektroda, 18777916]

12. Where to get official files if website search fails?

Email service.pl@umc-service.eu with model, serial and board photo; support replies with a direct download link [Elektroda, 18945949]

13. What’s the success rate of downgrades in this thread?

Three of four reported downgrade attempts succeeded (75 % success) without hardware damage [Elektroda, #18632984; #19274144; #18631780; #19273459].

14. Edge case: TV refuses to detect USB file—work-around?

Rename MSD3463.bin to upgrade_loader.bin, keep stick as first partition, repeat power-cycle; recognition improves on some units [Sharp Support FAQ].

15. Does firmware update fix sudden power-off or HDMI-ARC drop?

Users of LC-40CFE6352E saw no improvement after flashing v1.13; issues persisted [Elektroda, 18945949]

16. Safe items to adjust in service menu?

Only Panel ID, Color Bits and Init TV are considered safe. Avoid other entries to prevent EDID corruption [Elektroda, 19146614]
