Hey I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 sm-t230 tablet. I would like to upload a newer android. The question is, is it possible and how?

1. root 2. ADB + FASTBOOT 3. Custom ROM such as AOKP or CM or something stock, if it turned out to be this model.

Android is not just windows, another system that can be upgraded as soon as a newer version comes out, it is rather a more complex process. If the manufacturer has not updated the software, then at best, as a colleague wrote above, you can count on a Custom ROM. Unless I'm mistaken, the last one update 2015 is android version 4.4.2 Instead of android 7 you can look for Lollipop 5.1 Remember, whatever you upload, you do everything at your own risk.

Or CM, but ... honestly I have always had problems with CM. The AOKP worked best for me. When they did something, they did it well and CM did endless projects, but it was in the heyday of the HTC Wildfire S and it could change something for 5 or 6 years in CM. Unless I'm mistaken, the last one update 2015 is android version 4.4.2
Instead of android 7 you can look for Lollipop 5.1
