Hello, I have a Samsugn Galaxy S7 phone. Yesterday I played with some program to delete data and this program required usb debugging. I turned on this option and started the program, started to grind something and suddenly it was necessary to start the phone from scratch. The phone switched off and started to run again and stopped at the SAMSUNG sign (this is how this text dims and brightens up) all the time.

I made a hard reset and the phone came to life. Now, when I enter the software update, the message pops up:
"The operating system on the device has been modified in an unauthorized manner. Try downloading the software update using the Smart Switch program on your computer or go to the customer support center. "

In addition, a message appears from time to time in the bar:
"Safety note. Unauthorized activities detected. Restart the device to undo any unauthorized changes. "

What does this mean and what can I do about it? The phone is under warranty so as something I can send it back. Could I somehow root it? I downloaded some program to check this and the program shows that no root is enabled.

Can I somehow fix it or just service? Has anyone met with something like that?

What kind of system do you have in it now? Did you connect under a smart switch?

    I currently have Android 7.0

If I plug it into a smart switch, it finds that there is a newer version of the software and it takes 2000MB. As I update it, nothing happens.

There is nothing newer than 7.0 at the moment so it's strange, maybe some update 7.1, but the smart switch should download and upload without any problem. In that case, you can download from the sammobile and upload the highest available version for your model.

I will see if you have not bought the Knox flag, go to downloadmode (vol - + home + power) and see if you have knox warranty 0x0 if you have a different value, it means that you have made a flag and probably this problem can always upload a new soft odinem.

My friend, is it possible that my phone is rooted? Is the sense of putting this phone to the site?

And why does the message about the alert display? Where did these things come from?

So the situation looks like this:

    - when I press the VOL- HOME Power buttons it pops up such a window:
Samsung Galaxy S7: Unauthorized OS Modification, USB Debugging Issue & Software Update Failure

    - like dam VOL + this message appears:
Samsung Galaxy S7: Unauthorized OS Modification, USB Debugging Issue & Software Update Failure
and at this point nothing is drawn just hanging.
There, at the top, it says:
    ODIN MODE
    DOWNLOAD SPEED: FAST
    PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930F
    CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
    STATUS system: Custom
    FAP LOCK: ON
    Secure Download: Enabled
    VOID WARRANTS: 0 (0x0000)
    AP SWREV B: 1 K: 0 S: 0

-a dam VOL + HOME Power pops up such a window:
Samsung Galaxy S7: Unauthorized OS Modification, USB Debugging Issue & Software Update Failure

How should I check this flag?

    Added after 5 [minutes]:

And if I start combining something, is it tantamount to the loss of the warranty?

Flags do not have, as you have in download mode to connect under the computer and upload the odinem soft which you have to download, the smart switch will do it yourself, but somewhere doing something wrong.

You can check the flag by using Phone INFO, which can be downloaded from the Play Store.

If you do not feel up to it, it's better to upload the system in your local service or use the phone in the state it is now.

The latest software for today with no branding for Poland:

    Model Info: GALAXY S7 SM-G930F
    Nougat 7.0
    Date: August 31, 2017
    Poland (XEO): G930FXXS1DQHI

It is these updates that show your phone - you have the penultimate version of the software with orange as I guessed:

    Country / Region Poland (Orange)
    PDA G930FXXU1DQGR
    Product Code OPV
    CSC G930FOPV1DQG1
    Phone G930FXXU1DQEX

And trying to update to the latest from Orange:

    Country / Region Poland (Orange)
    PDA G930FXXU1DQIG
    Product Code OPV
    CSC G930FOPV1DQI1
    Phone G930FXXU1DQIB
    7.0 Nougat (Android) / September 26, 17

Or you can write by yourself. Or you can give away for service guarantees. Or use an unauthorized service. :)

Before changing the software, reset the phone from the menu, because I'm either sight-impaired or you have FRP-ON. That there was then no problem with the password for the Google account, if you do not remember what you entered :)

The phone has been sent under the warranty for service. They have re-uploaded the software and the phone is working properly.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a Samsung Galaxy S7 experiencing issues after unauthorized OS modification and enabling USB debugging. The user encountered a boot loop at the Samsung logo and received warnings about unauthorized modifications when attempting software updates. Responses suggest checking the Knox warranty status, using Smart Switch for updates, and potentially flashing the firmware using Odin if the warranty is void. The user confirmed the phone was sent for warranty service, where the software was re-uploaded, restoring functionality.

FAQ

TL;DR: Galaxy S7 on Android 7.0 showing “unauthorized modification” and failed updates? “The latest software for today” was confirmed and re‑flashing fixed it under warranty. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725129]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps Galaxy S7 owners fix update errors, Knox concerns, and Smart Switch issues without voiding warranty.

Quick Facts

Why does my Galaxy S7 say the OS was modified and block updates?

Your phone shows “System Status: Custom,” which triggers security notices and blocks OTA updates. This often happens after tools that required USB debugging altered system integrity. Smart Switch may download files but refuse to install while status remains Custom. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16723711]

How do I check the Knox warranty bit (0x0 vs 0x1)?

Enter Download Mode using Volume Down + Home + Power, then confirm with Volume Up. Read “WARRANTY VOID.” If it shows 0x0, the Knox bit is intact; any other value indicates it was tripped. “Check the flag and upload soft.” [Elektroda, siudziu, post #16723668]

What does “System Status: Custom” in Download Mode mean?

It means the device’s system integrity flag is not stock. Even if “Current Binary: Samsung Official,” a Custom status can block OTA updates and show safety alerts until firmware is re-flashed to stock. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16723711]

Smart Switch downloaded ~2 GB but nothing happened—what should I do?

When status is Custom, Smart Switch may fetch the package (~2.0 GB) yet never apply it. Use Download Mode and a clean stock firmware flash, or seek service. After a proper re-flash, updates and alerts clear. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16723647]

Can I get warranty service if Knox is 0x0?

Yes. The OP sent the phone under warranty; the service re-uploaded the software and the phone worked normally afterward. This indicates warranty support when Knox remains 0x0. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16792393]

How do I safely flash stock firmware with Odin on the S7?

Use Odin only if you’re comfortable. “Flags do not have ... connect in download mode and upload the odinem soft.”
  1. Enter Download Mode and connect to PC.
  2. Load correct SM‑G930F firmware in Odin.
  3. Start flash and wait for PASS, then reboot. “Check the flag and upload soft.” [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16723739]

What are CSC and branding (XEO vs Orange) and why do they matter?

CSC defines region/carrier settings. XEO is unbranded Poland; OPV is Orange Poland. Different CSCs receive different build IDs and dates. Picking the right CSC ensures compatible updates and features for your region or carrier. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725129]

What is FRP, and why reset before flashing?

FRP (Factory Reset Protection) ties the device to your Google account. If FRP is ON and you forget credentials, setup can lock after flashing. Advice: reset from the menu and ensure you know your Google password first. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725129]

Is my S7 rooted if apps report no root, yet I get security alerts?

Not necessarily. The device can show security alerts and Custom status without root if prior tools changed system state. The OP had no root detected, yet updates failed until a clean re-flash. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16723647]

What button combos get me into Download Mode or Recovery on the S7?

Download Mode: press Volume Down + Home + Power, then Volume Up to continue. Recovery: press Volume Up + Home + Power. The OP’s screenshots confirm these prompts and fields. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16723711]

Which firmware builds were referenced for September 2017 in Poland?

Unbranded Poland (XEO): G930FXXS1DQHI, dated August 31, 2017. Orange Poland (OPV): upgrade path included G930FXXU1DQIG with related CSC and modem builds dated September 26, 2017. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725129]

Should I DIY flash or use a service?

If you lack confidence, use a professional. “If you do not feel up to it, it’s better to upload the system in your local service or use the phone in the state it is now.” [Elektroda, tino2003, post #16723757]

What app can I use to read the Knox flag from Android?

You can use the Phone INFO app from the Play Store to check the Knox flag. This offers a quick software-based readout without entering Download Mode. [Elektroda, badboy84, post #16723748]

What happened after sending the phone to warranty service?

Service re-uploaded the software, and the phone worked correctly. This confirms a firmware refresh can clear Custom status and restore normal update behavior. [Elektroda, ziooober88, post #16792393]

Any edge cases I should know before flashing?

Yes. If FRP is ON and you forgot your Google password, you can be locked at setup after flashing. Reset from the menu first and confirm account access. [Elektroda, Stokłosy, post #16725129]
