    Hello
For a long time, I have a problem in my Peugeot with the antipollution fault message appearing from time to time and the engine light coming on.

After connecting to a simple elm327 tester in the Scan master elm program, the elm reads the error code p0121 the potentiometer circuit of the switch A incorrect range of the throttle or gas pedal signal.

I bought a different throttle - the problem returned.
I replaced the second throttle - also used, but checked and functional, and the problem still came back.
The voltage on the fifth pin of the throttle plug is correct even when the car is in emergency 5V mode.
The 5V voltage on the potentiometer is also correct.

I have recently noticed that when the error appears and the car goes into emergency mode, it is enough to unplug and re-plug the throttle cube and after driving a few kilometers the error automatically disappears.

but after driving about 100km, the error returns.

The throttle cube itself seems to grip tightly on the throttle joint - there is no play.
I also checked the continuity of the wires with a meter from the throttle cube to the controller cube and they are all ok.
I also removed the damper itself and took off the plastic cover to get inside. There, the damper connector with the plate is connected by aluminum wires - but also there all connections are fine.
What could cause this error to appear?
I also note that if the engine light comes on and the above error appears, then the car has no power at all. You can push the gas pedal to the top and the revolutions will increase to a maximum of 2,000. and at idle, either the car goes out or has increased speed (up to 1400)
This error occurs only on a cold engine running on gasoline. (the car has bezyne plus lpg)

This is my topic from six months ago.
Such a small correction - on the potentiometer cube I have 5V between the 4th and 3rd pin, not as I gave in that topic - so everything is correct because on the potentiometer cube according to the scheme 1 and 2 pin is a signal and 3 and 4 are ground and power.

This error concerns the gas pedal more than the throttle potentiometer ..... It is worth reading this error with dedicated equipment

After propping up to the planets, he shows me such errors:
Peugeot 307 Error P0121 - Antipollution Fault, Throttle Potentiometer Issues & ELM327 Tester

I would also like to add that now the error also appears on a warm engine and when the sun is strongly on the hood.

Evidently a problem with the throttle. Try to code your throttle and if not, replace it with another one and coding adaptation by pp2000

It was exactly the same. 1.6 16v engine. I changed the throttle plug. I bought a new one with earned wires and soldered. After tearing the old one apart, I see a lot of moisture. This plug works with very large temperature differences and has been able to suck moisture from the air over the years. Resistance was measurable in ohmmeter over the 20 kilo range. I finally see something that could be causing error P0121. Changing the accelerator pedal or cleaning the new throttle did not have a long effect. Now I have a few days to wait ... There was water, I changed the plug, the error reappeared. But I will follow this lead. I will dismantle the plug from the gas pedal and leave it in the sun for a few hours. If it does not help, I will dismantle the plugs at the computer. It must be the same ...

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

    Light of Winter .. I bought a plug in a well-known portal ...

Gas pedal plug suspected of breaking contact. I cut it off evenly, one of the middle pins did not hold the test pin. It was strangely bent. It is obvious that the contact with the pedal pin is a coincidence. He had no chance of some signal transmission. I replaced the contacts from the plug I bought with the unfinished one along with the throttle plug. I soldered the wires in the right colors. In the trash I had a very decent complete connector for Led lighting, which I used to connect the extended pedal prosthesis with the installation. So far it works, wait for further reports. No information .... That's good news for sour apple lovers ....

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a recurring P0121 error code in a Peugeot 307, indicating an issue with the throttle potentiometer circuit. The user experiences intermittent antipollution fault messages and engine light activation, which temporarily resolves upon disconnecting and reconnecting the throttle connector. Despite replacing the throttle with both new and used parts, the problem persists. Various contributors suggest that the issue may be related to the gas pedal rather than the throttle itself, recommending the use of dedicated diagnostic tools like the Lexia interface for accurate error reading. Some users highlight the importance of checking the throttle plug for moisture and ensuring proper connections, as faulty wiring or connectors can lead to similar errors. Solutions discussed include coding the throttle, replacing connectors, and inspecting the gas pedal plug for contact issues.

FAQ

TL;DR: On Peugeot 307 P0121, resistance >20 kΩ in the throttle plug signaled moisture; "This plug works with very large temperature differences." Repair or replace the affected throttle/accelerator connectors to stop recurring P0121/antipollution warnings. [Elektroda, tunek, post #18814828]

Why it matters: This FAQ helps Peugeot 307 owners and technicians fix P0121 antipollution faults efficiently and avoid unnecessary parts.

Quick Facts

What does code P0121 mean on a Peugeot 307?

P0121 flags an out‑of‑range signal from the throttle or accelerator pedal position sensor A. The ECU shows an antipollution fault and stores P0121. A basic ELM327 can read the code and description for initial confirmation. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050020]

Is P0121 more about the throttle body or the accelerator pedal?

Often it points to the accelerator pedal circuit. As one expert put it, "This error concerns the gas pedal more than the throttle potentiometer." Check the pedal connector and wiring before swapping throttles again. [Elektroda, autoas, post #17050468]

What symptoms should I expect with P0121 on the 307?

You may see the antipollution fault, the MIL, severe power loss, and limp mode. The engine can be limited to about 2,000 rpm. Idle may surge to roughly 1,400 rpm or stall at stops. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050020]

Why does unplugging and replugging the throttle connector temporarily clear P0121?

Reseating the connector can restore contact and reset the reading briefly. The error may vanish for several kilometers, then return after around 100 km. This pattern suggests intermittent connection at or near the throttle plug. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050020]

How can heat or sunlight trigger this fault?

Owners observed the fault appearing on a warm engine and when strong sun heats the hood. Thermal expansion can stress marginal contacts and change resistances in aging connectors or wiring, triggering P0121. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17140476]

Can moisture in connectors cause P0121, and how do I confirm it?

Yes. One case found water in the throttle plug and leakage resistance over the 20 kΩ range. Replacing the plug with a new pigtail and correct solder joints resolved the P0121. "I see a lot of moisture" confirmed the cause. [Elektroda, tunek, post #18814828]

How do I check the 5 V reference and signal pins?

Use this quick check: 1) Key on, engine off. 2) Back‑probe pins 3 and 4 on the potentiometer plug; expect about 5 V. 3) Identify pins 1 and 2 as signal lines per the schematic before deeper testing. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050346]

Which diagnostic tools work best beyond ELM327?

Use a PSA‑specific interface. The community recommends the Lexia interface for this platform to read faults and parameters more precisely than basic tools. [Elektroda, LightOfWinter, post #17050748]

Do I need to adapt or code a replacement throttle body?

Yes, adaptation can be necessary. "Evidently a problem with the throttle. Try to code your throttle ... by PP2000." Use PP2000/DiagBox to perform throttle adaptation after replacement. [Elektroda, kowal162, post #17141378]

Could the gas pedal connector be the culprit?

Yes. A bent middle pin in the pedal plug caused intermittent contact and P0121 in one case. Replacing the contacts and properly soldering the pigtail restored stable pedal signals and normal operation. [Elektroda, tunek, post #18817804]

What if replacing the throttle body didn’t help?

Then focus on wiring and connectors. One owner swapped throttles twice and the fault returned. Inspect the throttle and pedal plugs, harness to the ECU, and pedal sensor signals with a dedicated scanner. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050020]

Does LPG or cold starts influence when P0121 appears?

Yes, pattern matters. One report showed P0121 appearing only on a cold engine running on gasoline, despite LPG installed. That points to electrical or sensor circuits, not fuel supply. [Elektroda, gsmowiec, post #17050020]
