I am asking for help with tensioning the power steering pump belt.
There is a screw 13 (there are teeth near the screw hole). I saw on the net that this screw 13 should have a nut with teeth on it - probably 22 (mine does not have it). I don't know if my model should have such a nut to adjust the tension.
Please provide step-by-step instructions on how to stretch the strap (unfortunately I do not have access to the channel) - is it possible without a channel.

The screw 13 is only for countering the larger with teeth. Loosen the 13th and now turning the one with the teeth (I don't remember its size) you will see whether the belt is stretching or loosening - depending on whether you are turning right or left. After stretching, you counter 13 and village.

If you don't have that nut with teeth, someone has dumped it before. In Sharan I have two passats before and there were also these nuts.

I forgot to add that from the back of the pump there is another 13 screw that should be loosened.

I'm sorry I wrote the year 2006 by mistake, my sharan is 2000.
Does anything change what I wrote

And one more thing - which second screw 13 is about - because on the right side of the screw with teeth there are two screws 13 - is there any other screw (because you write that on the back of the pump - please describe exactly where it is) - -thanks

I've seen this video before but unfortunately after loosening the screws like in the movie, the pump will not vibrate. That's why I asked if maybe some other screw still holds it.

To adjust the belt there are only these two 13s, apparently you have everything tarnished and therefore you cannot move the pump. you have to put a decent "lag" (tube) between the pump and the bowl and push the pump properly away from the bowl.

Approx. you were right - I used a little more strength and everything is ok - thanks.
Now I'm struggling with the lack of backlight of the dashboard and license plate lighting - the bulbs I have checked are ok - maybe you have some idea where the reason may be - is the lighting of the board and the board passing through the fuse - because initially I checked the fuses and it seems ok.

I don't know that because in my shark the backlight has not yet been repaired, as for the license plate, look for cracked wires in the wiring harness that goes into the tailgate, if you open the tailgate, the wires are in this rubber at the top right. A common ailment in these cars. I already did it two years ago but I have to look there again because it is failing me again.

In fact, I noticed that this bundle is slightly battered to put it mildly. I will look at it tomorrow. Thanks

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around tightening the power steering pump belt on a 2000 Volkswagen Sharan. The user initially inquired about the adjustment process, specifically regarding a screw labeled "13" and the absence of a nut with teeth for tensioning. Responses clarified that the screw "13" is used to counter another screw with teeth, which adjusts the belt tension. It was noted that if the nut is missing, it may have been removed previously. Users suggested using a lever to apply force to the pump for proper adjustment. After some trial and error, the user successfully tightened the belt. The conversation later shifted to troubleshooting dashboard and license plate lighting issues, with advice on checking wiring harnesses for damage.
