Hello, gentlemen. I have an amazing problem with my passat. Everything started from the pulley on the alternator when I was riding it, I lost the belt for a long time because I did not have to search because when I opened the mask I saw what is wrong. I bought a pulley and replaced it quickly when I put on the V-belt, it turned out that the tensioner was bent and it was not bending, so I also replaced it. Once I replaced the tensioner, I could not put on the V-belt (I'm a beginner so I could not put it on) I went without a belt around 100m to a mechanic friend who put it on me very quickly and efficiently. Happy so I got into my car and tried to start and it starts my nightmare with this car. Passat spins and does not fire and so all the time from the exhalation flies such a slightly gray smoke sometimes even black, which terribly stinks. So I found that I would fire him off the car and fire without any problems, and he would walk nicely and keep going. I extinguished him and after a while I tried to fire him again and the same problem turns and nothing. I read a lot on the forums and read that it might be the injection pump's fault, but luckily they wrote how to check it more or less. They ordered to plug one of these metal hoses with your finger and if you push your finger away it means it's ok. So I read further and further and read that it could be the fault of the fuel filter or the check valve. I mentioned it and of course it was not xD. A familiar mechanic came and connected the solenoid valve, which is on the pump directly to the plus on the battery and the car suddenly started without the help of magical spray. He fired it a few more times and said that during the start-up the current fades by going to this valve or something :D and let me start by replacing the ignition switch. My friend went and I wanted to try to start him so I did what he did and the car did not start. Maybe because this valve on the pump has fallen to the end or this ignition. I wanted to know what this may be. Of course, these things my friend said I will mention. ; / If you had any ideas, I would ask for help. thank you in advance for every answer; D

It may be the fault of relay 109.
When you turn the key, do you see the glow plug indicator light up?
If not, look for the relay in this problem.
You can connect a 5W bulb to the valve to be sure that it is powered when the car starts.

As I twist the key the candle lamp is on. Just a friend would connect such a light bulb and it would go out and light up during the start-up. If it is not powered up during start-up, where can I look for the problem ??

Swap with another relay 109 in the fuse box (it is responsible for controlling this valve N109 in the pump). How it will help - you're guilty. If it does not help - the N109 valve in the pump should be replaced - to be replaced.

Lord, it's Be5, there is 219 in the ECU case and not 109 :)

    I apologize for misleading.
As for a light bulb, it's a universal tip. We do not care if the friend shines only if it shines now when there is a problem.

Exactly. The bulb test will explain everything.

I did this: I connected the cable with the bulb to (-) and to the solenoid valve and then turned on the ignition and the bulb started to shine when I started to turn on but slightly less ... What should I do further because I'm in a dot; /

    Added after 1 [minutes]:

I will add that I tried the same with connecting to (+) and the bulb went out during the shooting.

This means that the valve has a power supply so there is a problem in the pump or it may be faulty.
The bulb dims because the power supply drops due to the high current consumption by the starter.
Read errors from the engine control.

Just because you have fuel in the tubes and pushes your finger does not mean that the pressure is high enough to open the injectors.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a starting issue with a Volkswagen Passat B5 1.9 TDI after replacing the alternator pulley and tensioner. The user initially lost the V-belt due to a faulty pulley and later discovered a bent tensioner, which was also replaced. After reinstallation of the V-belt, the vehicle cranked but failed to start, emitting gray to black smoke. Suggestions included checking relay 109, which controls the solenoid valve, and performing a bulb test to confirm power supply. It was noted that the dimming of the bulb during cranking indicates a potential issue with the fuel pump or injectors, despite fuel presence in the lines. The user was advised to read error codes from the engine control unit for further diagnosis.
