    Hello
I have a golf v car from 2004. Recently it happened to me that when I started the engine, the red indicator of the power steering turned on. Support is gone and I don't know what to do now. A connection error is displayed on the computer. the battery was checked, all the cubes and nothing helped. someone will help what to do?

So there is no communication with the controller, or some specific error number?

Fuses checked and everything ok. The computer only displays no connection.
After driving 20 km without power steering, it suddenly unlocked and power steering came back. But when the engine is turned off, the red indicator light and no assistance are visible again

Sometimes a weak battery can do such circuses, because the support is electro-oil, i.e. a high-power motor in the pump and one housing, check the plugs next to this pump should be three and if any has escaped or any cable, and check if there is anything in it or if there is Anything else oil?

unfortunately it was necessary to change the steering gear

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a 2004 VW Golf 5 experiencing a power steering issue, indicated by a red warning light and a connection error on the diagnostic computer. Initial troubleshooting included checking fuses and battery status, which were found to be functional. The power steering temporarily restored after driving 20 km but failed again upon restarting the engine. Suggestions for resolution included using VCDS for error checking, verifying power supply and CAN signals, and inspecting the steering angle sensor. A follow-up indicated that ultimately, the steering gear needed replacement.
