    Hello.
Recently, I am the owner of Opel Corsa d 1.4, gasoline, from 2010. I noticed that the oil pressure indicator goes out before starting the engine and I am not sure if this is the correct symptom. I am asking for a possible hint.

In many newer cars, the oil pressure or battery charging indicator goes out before starting the engine and this is a normal symptom, they only light up when the system fails.

Yes, only that today I checked the oil pressure with a pressure gauge, so the sensor was removed, i.e. the indicator should light up, and here nothing. So I think there is something wrong and I am not convinced that it should go out before starting. I would like someone who has a Corsa after 2009 to speak.

Yeah ... this is the best in newer cars, the pressure indicator lights up as the engine stops and the charge indicator lights up like the engine stops due to power outage ...

It will light up if you short the sensor cable to ground, the minus is that if you run out of oil pressure and at the same time the sensor cable is damaged, nothing will inform you.

Post to the fanatics of this invention in the forum :D The truth is that the mechanics know most about cars what they work for, not the owners, for example you have zero knowledge on yourself :D

I closed the circuit and the indicator light is off (it lights only a few seconds after turning the ignition) unless there is another sensor in the circuit ????? Two pressure sensors in corsie don't believe me.

But you check it on a running engine?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the oil pressure indicator behavior in a 2010 Opel Corsa D 1.4 gasoline vehicle. The owner expresses concern that the oil pressure indicator turns off before starting the engine, questioning if this is normal. Responses indicate that in many newer vehicles, it is typical for the oil pressure indicator to extinguish prior to engine start, as it only activates when a fault is detected. However, the owner conducted a pressure gauge test and found the indicator did not light up when the sensor was removed, raising doubts about the system's functionality. Further comments suggest that the indicator should light up if the sensor circuit is shorted, but caution is advised regarding potential undetected oil pressure loss if the sensor is faulty. The conversation highlights the importance of verifying the indicator's behavior under various conditions, including engine operation.
