Hello. I'm going to add RAM memory to my laptop. Currently it has 1 chip 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM input clocked at 1330 MHz, but I'm going to add another 4GB to it. And one more thing, if this memory is from a different manufacturer and will have a clock speed of 1600 MHz, will it work together? I will add that such a memory would cost me PLN 60. Will I see changes in performance and games? and is the improvement in this performance worth the PLN 60?
My computer is: HP Pavilion DV6-6020ew
    Information that may be useful:
    5200 RPM SATA300 drive
Processor: Intel core i3-2010m 2.1 Ghz
    System: Windows 10 Home

    64 bit. Some games require.

    1. Enter the task manager, click the performance tab and take a screenshot or write how much time you wear frames, etc. during normal use and while playing.
2.It makes no sense to buy 1600Mhz memory because it will work at 1333Mhz frequency anyway

Adding 4GB RAM to HP Pavilion DV6-6020ew: Compatibility & Performance with Different MHz when playing, I would have to install something first, I would add a few percent because this laptop has a fresh Windows, so as you use it, there will be more applications. That's why the memory of 1600 MHz, because sometimes they are cheaper than those with 1333 MHz, and I wanted to know if it would not argue with each other, if the new memory would adapt to this 1333 MHz.

The second memory may have a higher clock speed, but it is important that both dice have the same parameters at each frequency they can work with, as well as the timings and CL.

Well, thank you gentlemen for the clarification, but I still have not received such a relevant answer to my question :(

Increasing the amount of memory will affect the smoother system operation and better performance of programs that perform a lot of operations because the results of their actions will not have to be saved on the hard disk. In the last photo you can see that 72% is occupied, i.e. about 3 GB, only 200 MB is missing from the full occupation, because Windows works smoothly when a maximum of 80% of Ram is occupied, then it begins to dump files from memory to disk and vice versa, according to it, decrease of efficiency. Therefore, it is worth buying and expanding the RAM, remembering about the appropriate selection, which I described in the previous post.

Ok. Thanks, I was looking for such an explanation.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around adding a 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM module to an HP Pavilion DV6-6020ew laptop, which currently has one 4GB module clocked at 1330 MHz. Users inquire about the compatibility of a new 4GB module from a different manufacturer with a clock speed of 1600 MHz. It is noted that while the new RAM will function, it will operate at the lower speed of 1333 MHz due to the existing module's specifications. The importance of matching parameters such as timings and CAS latency (CL) is emphasized for optimal performance. Increasing RAM is expected to enhance system performance, particularly in multitasking and gaming scenarios, as it reduces reliance on the hard drive for memory management. The cost of the new RAM is considered reasonable given the potential performance improvements.
