    Hello,
I want to add RAM to the ASUS R510LNV-X0555H laptop. The computer has a built-in 4gb bone (soldered to the motherboard) and one free ddr3 slot.
When looking for information on the Internet, I read that after inserting a bone in a free slot, the built-in memory is turned off, and thus the laptop only sees the memory in the slot. Is it true?
The second thing that the bone should add ... unfortunately neither CPU-Z nor AIDA show information about the built-in bone (SPD tab) and I don't really know what speed to buy the memory.
    Thanks for any advice.

Better, it is a memory integrated with the board. It doesn't even have its own PCB.
The chips themselves are soldered to the motherboard, like here:

Provide a link to this information. According to I am not. At exorbitant RAM prices, it would be idiotic to turn off 100% efficient and available RAM.
I found such a topic, for example:
    https://forum.dobreprogramy.pl/t/asus-r510jk-ram-upgrade/524549/5
How it works for him in dual ... I don't know. Perhaps in "interleaved" mode or what?
Anyway, returning to the starting point, you can mount a free bone slot max. 8GB.
Please note that this is about DDR3 memory L. , i.e. with reduced voltage.

Or on the Memory tab in CPU-Z you can't see timings and speeds?
Something is wrong. ;) Post a view.
But they messed with that integrated RAM, let them. :)
    Eh, now I came across:
    http://www.nhl.pl/index.php?s=f57bd9675dfbfa7f1fa171810b143496&showtopic=80749&st=20
and it is exactly about the R510LNV. They claim that the integrated RAM shuts down after filling slot # 1.
    I don't know anything anymore.
Only the parameters of the RAM you want to pre-add:
DDR3L, 1600MHz, CL11. Something like this. As in the link, ASUS claims that it tested:
    HYNIX / HMT41GS6AFR8A - DDR3L 1600 SO-D 8G
    HYNIX / HMT451S6AFR8A - DDR3L 1600 SO-D 4G
    HYNIX / HMT425S6AFR6A - DDR3L 1600 SO-D 2G

    max is 12GB

Give me the link. According to for me it is max but for a different model. And does the integrated RAM turn off? The argument that this is for this RAM breaking down doesn't appeal to me ...

I just read this information on nhl.pl and I was also dizzy and hence my post.
    Info from CPU-Z

In the SPD tab, zero information on each slot.

I was also freaked out. Maybe the 4GB solder turns off or not depending on the model.
Well, maybe depending on whether it "jumps" on dual or not ...
Could use someone with this laptop for consultation. Is who? ;)
The summa summarum RAM needed is DDR3L, 1600MHz, CL11. Maximum 8GB cube. There is certainty about that.
It is known that the parameters can be higher, e.g. 1800MHz and lower CL, but the guarantee that it will slow down by itself -> none.

That low voltage, how do you know?

All R510s have such for example:
    https://www.asus.com/in/Laptops/R510JX/specifications/
but a horse with a row of what ASUS supports the R510LNV,
I have already "wasted" half an hour and as you can see I find some ... :D :D :D
    ASUS didn't "manufacture" your laptop :D ->

    I type in google:

and only this Indian page R510JX pops up. Shock. Embarrassment. ;)

    I read this manual :P
It's not mine. I had 8 wines in the original and I have dedicated graphics in the form of GF 840M.

The decision was made .. I am buying 8GB.
I am thinking of GoodRAM GR1600S3V64L11 / 8G or Kingston KVR16LS11 / 8. What do you think about them? Which one is more likely to work? Possibly the Crucial CT102464BF160B could also be.

So yes ... I managed to get 8GB Hynix HMT41GS6AFR8A-PB memory - that's the one tested by Asus (information from the nhl forum from the link above). The laptop recognized the new bone without any problems and added it to the built-in one, so I have 12gb (4gb built-in + 8gb in the slot). The onboard memory remains enabled for the Hynix HMT41GS6AFR8A-PB as well.

So turning off the built-in RAM is a myth. And these RAM work in dual according to CPU-Z?

Unfortunately, I do not have the computer at hand anymore and I have no way to check.

Ok, this needs to be closed. Congratulations on the solution.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around upgrading the RAM in the ASUS R510LNV-X0555H laptop, which has a built-in 4GB RAM soldered to the motherboard and one available DDR3 slot. Users clarify that adding RAM to the free slot does not disable the built-in memory, allowing for a total of 12GB (4GB built-in + 8GB added). The recommended RAM specifications are DDR3L, 1600MHz, CL11, with options for higher speeds and lower CAS latency. Users share experiences with various RAM brands, confirming compatibility with the Hynix HMT41GS6AFR8A-PB model, which was successfully recognized by the laptop. The discussion also highlights the lack of information on built-in memory in tools like CPU-Z and AIDA.
