Hello. Well, the day before I made myself a disk format and reinstalled Windows 8.1 of course, all legal, the OEM version assigned to the hardware.

However, it amazed me that a window popped out of the update to Windows 10, I know that there were free upgrades, etc. At present, this system is paid and I do not know what to think about it. It is possible that I do not know anything yet, because I have not recently looked at any news from the world of electronics, etc. or is there something else behind it?

I would ask for your answer, some information and other suggestions. Thank you in advance.

The update is theoretically not, but in practice you can still update the system to Windows 10 and legally.

Yes, I just did not download anything and jumped out involuntarily. And that surprised me. So, in short, is it still possible that the update initiates itself?

It looks like it may be so in Windows 8.1.
You can always upgrade to 10 and go back to 8.1 for the future.

If you remember, did you re-activate the system after reinstallation? Did you have Windows 8.1 downloaded from Microsoft as an ISO file, did you have a tile?

Thanks in advance for the answer. A similar action is waiting for me so it would be nice to know what awaits me :)
