    Hello
I have a problem with connecting the modem to the android 4.4.4 radio, I checked on the following modems:
Huawaei E173 - modem blinks android does not see
    D-Link DWM-222 does the same
HSUPA MF637 - the modem is found, the icon with the range appears, but there is a message about the lack of internet, interestingly, after turning on the WIFI and connecting to the Internet, the name of the ERA network will appear !! The name disappears when disabled.

hUAWEI E1750 - behavior as above.

I will add that the configuration of the access points is correct ANP:

    T-Mobile (configurator)

    name: internet
    APN: internet
    MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    MCC: 260
    MNC: 02
    authentication type: PAP
    APN type: internet
    other fields: empty

    Added after 2 [minutes]:

I will add with the information and the radio is given the name of the network, range and active message, but below is the message "Disconnected"

I tried the PPP application, but the application version 1 and 3 looks for nothing, and on 2 it finds but does not connect.

The basic problem of Android radio hardware. No compatible modems with them. The electrostatic precipitators you replaced do not meet the requirements for USB modems in 2018. As a rule, such radios do not work with the latest LTE / 3G. If the radio has a WiFi card, we use the Internet on it by connecting it via WiFi to a mobile LTE / LTE-A router.

Turn on the router on your phone and come on with the USB modem and Android.

Solved topic both HSUPA MF637 modem and HUAWEI E1750 with Android 4.4.4 works fine !!!
A different ANP configuration for t-mobile was needed:

    name: erainternet
    APN: erainternet
    MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    MCC: 260
    MNC: 02
    authentication type: PAP
    APN type: erainternet
    other fields: empty

AERO works properly with Android 4.4.4 on the huawei e3131s-2 modem.

The shortening of the USB cable improved the stability, on the 1.5 m cable the router was restarting every now and then at 30 cm working properly !!!

From what I can see, both modems (monuments) do not support UMTS 900 (outside cities it will probably be uninteresting) and on UMTS 2100 max 7.2 Mb / s, so it's cool that it works, but what after such action? But if it satisfies you, it is good :)

Typical art for art, both of these modems are museums, why would you need a 3G modem that does not support UMTS900? It only works on UMTS2100, i.e. in large cities. after leaving the city, you won't even use free 3G on it. In villages and small towns, 3G operators use UMTS900. The friend was faster.

On YouTube, googlemaps, yanosika and internet radio, a 400 km route is enough today, the modem works in UMTS / HSDPA (850/1900/2100 MHz) and EDGE / GPRS / GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) modes.

You have no idea what you are writing about, you know at least what bands are used by operators on 3g? Modems do not support 3G on UMTS900 and this is the basic 3G coverage band of all Polish operators and these modems do not support it, where there was no 3G coverage with UMTS2100, i.e. outside the cities these modems go down to 2G and use it on GSM900 and in EDGE technology up to 256Kb / s. So you've technologically moved back by at least 12 years. Now, LTE is used on average several dozen / several hundred times faster than EDGE. But no one will force anyone, if EDGE is enough, it's just use. especially from YT. Routerek MiFi with LTE, for example E5573, costs PLN 60-70.

I have been an IT designer for 4 years, I was an administrator and 3 IT analyst for 5 years, so I rather know what I am writing about and the parameters are sufficient for my needs and the needs of such a station.

LTE to yanosik :) 64kbps on 2G is more than enough for this purpose. And if I want to watch YouTube, I do not do it on the road, but when I am standing, and the coverage in 3g cities is available.

The navigation works properly because I have saved the maps to the memory and only traffic information is downloaded from the network, and 2G is also enough here.

Everyone has their own needs for me this modem and the range is enough to invest at least PLN 1 to improve the speed would be stupid !!!

    Added after 12 [minutes]:

    GPRS
The first standard for packet data transmission in GSM networks.
The transmission speed offered in practice is from 30 to 80 kbit / s
    EDGE
Packet transmission standard based on an improved GSM network, the so-called improved GPRS. EDGE is often referred to as 2.5G technology
Data download speed: up to 236 kbit / s,
Data upload speed: up to 236 kbit / s
    UMTS
3rd generation (3G) mobile telephony standard.
Data download speed: up to 384 kbit / s,
data transmission speed: up to 64 kbit / s

For my purposes, GPRS is sufficient. EDGE is too fast and 3g :) why do I need it to download data, max 20 kbps on average?

And with that 3g in 2100 it is not so tragic

Everyone according to their needs. The shown coverage map of T-Mobile on 3G with UMTS2100 is a theory and purely virtual coverage, of course it is outdoor coverage. Modem in the car.If you are satisfied with transfers on the above-mentioned level, then you only need to use it.

In android radio, internet speed from 3G module for the needs of:
    - yanosika
    - navigation
    - traffic announcements

It is sufficiently verified on the card from the t-mobile operator.

    best regards

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues connecting various 3G modems (Huawei E173, D-Link DWM-222, HSUPA MF637, and Huawei E1750) to an Android 4.4.4 radio. Users report that while some modems are detected, they fail to provide internet connectivity. A solution was found by adjusting the APN settings for T-Mobile, changing the APN name to "erainternet" and ensuring proper configuration. The importance of modem compatibility with UMTS bands is highlighted, noting that many older modems do not support UMTS900, which is crucial for coverage outside urban areas. Users also discuss the adequacy of 2G speeds for specific applications like navigation and traffic updates, emphasizing that the performance meets their needs despite the limitations of the modems.
