I have a problem because I have a 300 Mbps optical fiber from Orange, when I tested my laptop I always had a maximum of 99Mbps, because I was sure that the network card only had a range of up to 100Mbps, but I read Orange`s guide, and it is mentioned that I have Windows 7 on their website http: //www.orange.pl/kartalan and according to the instructions, it turned out that my card has the 1.0 Gbps option.
this is a screenshot of my card
The Network Card has a speed & duplex of 1.0 Gbps, but only works up to 100 Mbps
the default setting is that auto negotiation always works, but it blocks up to 100Mbps,
and if I switch to the 1.0 Gbps option and use , the network connection is completely disabled.
I also checked that when I select another one from the list, e.g. 100Mbps, it is ok and the connection works just like in the auto option.
I don`t know much about this, maybe it`s very simple to do so that I have a maximum speed of 300Mbps
(of course, e.g. on the PS4 console I checked and Orange actually gives me 300Mbps via optical fiber)
Thanks in advance for any advice, regards Łukasz

Is the computer connected directly to the Orange device? What is this device? Is there a switch or something else on the way?
How long is the ethernet cable and what category (it should be at least 5e - if it is cat. 5, replace it).

Is the cable connecting the router to the computer original, 8 wires in RJ45 plugs?

Since it`s a laptop, it will probably have Wi-Fi, and the author of the topic is looking at the integrated device. But you have to wait for the information to be completed.

directly to the router is funBox 3.0 from them and a short ethernet cable, 1 meter long, the one I got from them is two black ones with a red transparent plug through which I can see 8 wires, cat 5e, 30v, 60st etc./
    2. DespKaMRaT answer:
I install the drivers with SupportAssistent, I did it about 3 months ago
The Network Card has a speed & duplex of 1.0 Gbps, but only works up to 100 Mbps [/align]
now I don`t see anything about the network card here, unless it`s better to find the drivers for this card somewhere, I would have a problem with that, I probably don`t know such websites nowadays, I stayed at the stage of Win 98 on old PCs haha.
    4. lukaszd82 reply:
no, no, I recognize these two connections, if I`m not mistaken, the Wi-Fi connection always has priority, but when I connect the cable, I turn off the Wi-Fi connection, I also recognize it by the icon in the bar, oh, I forgot to mention! here`s an interesting thing, wi-fi has no limits at least to 99Mbps, but the tests range between 80 and 180Mbps, and as I said, the PS4 console in my own tests in network settings on wi-fi had identical results as on the laptop wi-fi, i.e. 80-180Mbps, but on the same PS4 cable it is 200Mbps to 300Mb, it is probably
    5th reason for bothering you:
It`s not like I really need this speed of 300Mbps on this cable, and I doubt I would connect this often, but I am having a telephone dispute with Orange, in my opinion, if I pay for 300, it should be 300, it should be stable and not drop below that. 270 somehow and the ping also did not jump once 4 times 10 and sometimes 16. However, for a technician to come and check it and correct it, I would have to pay PLN 200 if the fault was on my side, and there must be my computer on which he would check it, not some PS4 console, or maybe something is wrong somewhere on my side, or maybe their router or another part of their installation across the city.
I play PES on PS4 at a high level and Konami servers are weak and sensitive to such differences, I want to know that orange provides me with a perfect signal and I can`t prove it to them. The best thing about the hotline is that the technician always tells me that old computers have up to 100MBps and you need to do a test like in their video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPRbDAGkUD0 , generally it`s just a way of communicating with them via the hotline and it`s always laymen like me who answer the phones and we just talk!

When it comes to the driver, use the manufacturer`s website or a less "good" method is the driver booster program. There it will automatically find the current drivers

Regarding the laptop, there is one more important thing. When you do speed tests, be sure to have the power supply connected.
Some battery-powered laptops limit the connection speed...

Try a different cable. It must autonegotiate gigabit.

I don`t know about you, but in my company, cat 5e had to be replaced with cat 6a. There was no way in hell we could push more than 120-150 Mbps. We replaced everything, including the sockets, it helped, almost 500 are working.

this is what you can check about this device http://www.orange.pl/kid,4004953602,id,400495...FunBox-30-podstawowe-informacje-,article.html

I don`t understand "links"? when it comes to RJ45 outputs, there are 4 of them, 2x go to TV set-top boxes, I have 1 bottom for the console and one for this laptop, but that`s probably not what the link was about!!

Thanks for your tips, it "helped" everyone!!
because even if it does not solve the problem, it mostly excludes various causes one by one, tomorrow I will call the people from Orange again and I will be much wiser, maybe they will connect me with someone competent, but even though it is supposedly the technical department, they have no idea about anything, they explain this that the technology is just entering the market and they are not very experienced, because I was wondering why it was so difficult for the supplier to help me and arrange everything for me, and they directed me towards some instructions and videos, but I couldn`t ask questions there :( and as I already mentioned, the technician`s visit will cost me PLN 200, I will also say that the technicians who installed this funbox, decoders, etc., spent almost the whole day calling some manager and asking about everything because they had no idea what they were doing and that`s why I suspect it`s the router. and their connection doesn`t work perfectly!!

You need to check the cable and sockets in the laptop and router, I had a similar problem recently with my laptop, I was looking for the cause and it turned out that one pin in the Ethernet socket was bent, I gently straightened it and it works at 1gbps

I don`t know this device, but almost every router has the ability to check the speed at which the connection has been made available to us. On ADSL, the speed was visible during synchronization. It will probably be similar here. Post screenshots of your device`s status windows. Of course, all sensitive data will be frozen...
That`s what the "links" thing was about, I guess.
You can also upload screenshots of the configuration so that we can check whether you have any connection sharing active.

Because in the case of ADSL or VDSL technology, there is something called synchronization - which adjusts the speed to the existing line parameters. It had to be this way, otherwise there was no Internet (or more precisely, synchronization) under changing conditions.

In the case of GPON there will always be 2.5Gb/s down and 1.25Gb/s up, there is no other option. The network card will also support 1Gb/s as long as it has the appropriate cable and a device that supports that speed at the other end.

The cause is probably this cat5e cable, they will come from Orange and replace it with 6e, then I will be sure that this is the problem, thanks everyone for the advice

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user experiencing limited internet speeds (max 99 Mbps) on a laptop with a network card rated for 1.0 Gbps, while connected to a 300 Mbps optical fiber service from Orange. The user suspects the network card's settings and the Ethernet cable (Cat 5e) may be causing the issue. Responses suggest checking the direct connection to the Orange FunBox 3.0 router, ensuring the Ethernet cable is of good quality (Cat 5e or higher), updating drivers, and verifying that the laptop is powered during speed tests. The user plans to have the cable replaced with a Cat 6e to potentially resolve the speed limitation.
