    Hello!
The foreman installed F / UTP category 6 internet cables for me, despite the fact that the developer installed 5e in the premises.
For this reason, sockets for category 5e, and I would not like to specifically buy for category 6.
The provider offers the highest possible speed of 500Mb, but I will only be using 100Mb anyway.
    Is that a problem?
    Regards

Now I have nothing to buy :)
The sockets are from the developer (category 5E), the cables were pulled by category 5E, and the foreman put on 6. I was afraid that the 5E socket would support the category 6 cable :)

This is exactly called backwards compatibility, it is worth entering this phrase in the future in case of other doubts

Will these backwards compatibility work the same for a Cat5 cable with a Cat6 socket?

Topic summary

The discussion centers on the compatibility of using an RJ-45 Cat 5E socket with F/UTP Cat 6 cables in a network setup. The user expresses concern about potential issues since the installed sockets are Cat 5E while the cables are Cat 6. Responses clarify that Cat 6 cables are backward compatible with Cat 5E sockets, meaning the network will function at Cat 5E standards without problems. The consensus is that using Cat 6 cables with Cat 5E sockets will not hinder performance, especially since the user plans to operate at 100Mb speeds, which is well within the capabilities of Cat 5E.
