Hi, can 2 RJ45 sockets be connected to one cable as shown in the photo? Cat6 cable and sockets. I will add that I checked the entire network with a tester and the signal passes through every point without any problems, the only question is whether the Internet has the right to work on it at all and if so, what speed limits could be expected?

If you want two sockets, there must be two wires or install a switch.
Another option is to split the cable into two sockets, but then the maximum speed is up to 100Mb/s.

I thought it wouldn`t work the way I wanted it to. The Internet will be 1Gb, so there is no point in limiting yourself to 100Mb, so I only have to run a second cable. Thanks for the answer :)

It depends on what you connect to these sockets - because all RTV equipment usually has 100Mb/s eth cards, so it is enough for them (this is sometimes done if you lack sockets in a given point). 1GB is only for computers and NAS.

Exactly - if it is possible to add a cable (1 or 2 pieces), this is the only option.

One more note - the wires are undone for far too long. This may (but does not have to) cause problems in the operation of the network, and certainly in obtaining the connection parameters required for category 6. For category 6, the furcation is a maximum of approximately 5 mm.

Topic summary

Connecting two RJ45 sockets to a single Cat6 cable is not advisable for optimal performance. While it is technically possible to split the cable, this configuration limits the speed to 100Mb/s per socket, which is insufficient for a 1Gb internet connection. For best results, it is recommended to run a separate cable for each socket. Additionally, the quality of the connection can be compromised if the cable is improperly terminated, as the furcation for Cat6 should not exceed 5mm. Devices typically connected to these sockets may only require 100Mb/s, but future-proofing with 1Gb capability is suggested.
