    Hi,

I am hunting a Mondeo MK4 and would like to benefit from your experience. Could you tell me which engines of this model are suitable for gas installation? I have heard many opinions from various mouths, including none (and they also come with LPG at the factory).
I do not want to buy a car with gas already installed, because in my opinion if someone has spent money on the installation, it is not so that the car will not run. ;)
Since I saw that Elektroda has a gas installation department, I hope that I will receive objective advice.

    Thanks in advance.

I have not heard about the Ford mk4 with factory gas and I dare to doubt that they are. The engine that is suitable for LPG is 1.6 102-125 HP. However, 1.8 or 2.0 does not tolerate gas. 1.6 is the only one that is suitable for gas

I will not agree with this theory.

I know a lot of 2.0 / 1.8 that run great on LPG.

The main problem is that the installations are not set up correctly.

Probably the only reasonable choice is 2.0 145km, 1.6 125km - the ti-vct is not recommended, although the installation can be assumed. You have to adjust / check valve clearance more often there.

1.8 was not offered in the mk4.
You do not write anything about a 2.5 liter capacity, I think it would be nice to push this piece of car away.

If anyone has experience, I would be happy to read the user reviews of 2.5 t 220KM LPG.

I had ST200 MKII 2.5L gassed - it smoked very little and nothing happened to it.
Just don't know if it's the same engine?

In Mondeo, engines have mechanical valve clearance adjustment, which makes them not ideal for gas. They all work, only there must be good injectors and a well-adjusted installation. And sometimes you have to look at the valve clearances. 2.5 is a volvo construction with hydraulic valve clearance adjustment and it will also work well, provided that someone does it right.

Topic summary

The discussion centers on suitable gas engines for the Ford Mondeo MK IV, with varying opinions on which engines are optimal for LPG installation. The 1.6L engine (102-125 HP) is widely regarded as the most suitable for gas, while the 2.0L engine (145 HP) is also considered viable, though it requires careful installation and maintenance of valve clearances. Some participants argue that the 1.8L engine is not available in the MK IV, and the 2.5L engine, derived from Volvo, is mentioned as a good option if properly maintained. Overall, the consensus emphasizes the importance of correct installation and valve adjustment for successful LPG operation across different engine types.
