First, check if your TV supports USB recording. They have been implementing this feature in their models since 2010.
Set up USB recording on the TV
You can initialize the hard drive on the TV by connecting an external USB HDD to the TV's USB recording port.
Connect the USB Hard Drive to a free USB port on the back of the TV.
The USB hard drive must now be formatted using the TV function, which means that all data on the drive (if any) will be lost. Most TVs will detect the USB Hard Drive inserted and will automatically ask you to format the drive, however, on some models you may need to go to the menu and select "Format Hard Drive" (or similar).
The hard drive will be formatted in the correct format. In addition, the drive will be associated with that particular TV. This means that you cannot record the program on one TV, disconnect the hard drive and try to watch the program on another TV or computer.
Most TVs can initialize up to 8 different USB hard drives.
To record a program, simply press a button on the remote control (it will start recording the program you are watching) or use the timer function (in combination with the electronic programming guide) to schedule a recording of a future program - this function works on most televisions, even when they are turned off . To pause the live TV picture, press the button on the remote control. For more details, see the operating instructions of the TV.
