Which of these T-Mobile home internet routers is the best choice for use with an external antenna?

If you must choose from that list, the best pick is the Huawei 4GRouter 3 Pro (B535-232); the ZTE MF286 is mentioned as a second option, but its external antennas should be avoided, so the recommendation is clearly the Huawei model [#18337306] The actual best choice still depends on which LTE bands your BTS uses, so you should check whether LTE1800, LTE2100, LTE800, and possibly LTE2600 are active before buying [#18337320] At about 3 km from the BTS, an external antenna for the LTE bands is also advised if you want a real speed improvement [#18337320] The Signaflex antenna linked in the thread was dismissed as poor quality with unrealistic 20 dBi claims [#18337356]

Hello. Could someone advise what router to choose for home internet from t-mobile. The company offers options only with a router, they have 5 different devices on offer, which one is the best?
    1. Huawei B529
    2. Huawei 4GRouter 3 Pro (B535-232)
    3. Alcatel Link Zone cat7
    4. ZTE MF286
    5. Alcatel Link Zone
I know that these are not some top routers, but which one will be the best choice? The router will work with an antenna with sma inputs.
Thank you for your help. Regards.

Yes, I currently have this internet, everything works fine, but my contract is running out and there is no option to extend it without a router, I have to choose something.

What does that mean it works nicely? What are your DL / UL speeds in the hours of 19-23? Which BTS Networks do you use, on what LTE bands? What are your signal parameters on LTE bands on them? Didn't you write anything about the current offer? Are you aware that now extensions are on completely different (worse) conditions that they offer you? What's your location?

In the old offer, I have a speed limit of up to 20 Mb / s download and in the hours you specified I have the upper limit, i.e. 19-20 Mb / s download, sending about 13-15 Mb / s in the new offer with a data transfer limit, no images but I'm just asking which of these routers to choose, not what offer :)

Your case, you'd rather pay more for an offer with data caps. You ask for the antenna and I am not a fortune teller and I am asking for specific data on BTS, LTE bands, signal parameters and location because this is the basis when choosing the equipment.

I do not know anything about it, I am not able to check it for you because I do not know where the only thing I can say is that I am currently using the B525s-23a router
The parameters of the signal are not exciting from what I managed to find on the internal antennas of the small ones
    RSRQ: -10dB
    RSRP: -97dBm
    SINR: 1dB
Regarding btsa, I know which one I use in Tłuchówek, Journal No. 178/3 I do not know if it will tell you something, I am about 2.8 km away from it

BTS should be modernized and refarmed at 1800 / 2100MHz. You should check on the B525 what bands work on it. Previously, there was only carrion on LTE800, possibly LTE1800 and LTE2100 on it. on B525 the bands are managed via http://www.mediafire.com/folder/95m83y3qalgbv/B525s_-_23a for Android or https://www.lte-anbieter.info/ltewatch/count_huawei.php?Datei=ltewatch_h for Windows . They choose lTE2100, LTE1800 and LTE800 in turn, you can also check LTE2600. They show the signal parameters, eNB and CID of the BTS. In addition, on each of the speedtest bands. replacement of B525 justified when LTE2100 and LTE1800 are already running on the BTS and LTE1800 + 2100 aggregation. B525 does not support this LTE band aggregation only LTE1800 + 800 and LTE2100 + 800. At 3 km from BTS, an external antenna for LTE capacitive bands is also used, without it there is no chance for a radical increase in speed.

There is nothing to understand here, you have to check the LTE bands on the BTS because it is crucial when choosing the equipment and antenna. Signaflex is crap, the description is a load of rubbish and the gain of 20dBi is a fingerprint. Broadband antennas with H155 cable have a gain of about 10dbi depending on the frequency.

As you said, I did tests with a frequency forcing program and the best results are LTE800, the speed of 18DL / 13UL, LTE 1800 is also not the worst, it shows 13DL / 8UL. Insert screenshots?

Show screenshots with signal parameters and BTS data for lte1800, LTE2100 and LTE800. speedtests only those from 19-23 are important when the network is overloaded. Now, few use the Internet.

I think a pretty good result for LTE800 at 19:40 Friday, the router only on the internal antennas of the small ones.

I do not know what these consultants are pushing for kits - but the update to the new offer will eliminate you no-limit at full speed and introduce other restrictions. Oil this equipment, stay on an unlimited offer.

You are not running out of anything, you let the consultants wave you around like a little child. The contract concluded for a period of 24 months after it passes for an indefinite period at the same price, i.e. if you have no limit of up to 20Mb / s for PLN 45/49, you can continue using the same conditions. if you want to resign yourself, you can terminate the contract with a 30-day notice period. Of course, if you are satisfied, you do not do anything but continue to use.
On LTE800, it is not any BTS from Tłuchówek but Bądkowo Kościelne, the signal is sufficient. DL

It can be done without a new router, I recently extended myself and they wanted to push a new router for me. The old one works fine (B525), the BTS is 100m away from me. Why do I need another brick at home when this one works well. Instead of a router, I took a new phone.

So I got screwed :-( It was unlimited and now I have 50GB :-( .

T-Mobile is barely working in many locations, as a result of the fact that for two years they were selling no limit for ridiculous money. now, after 2 years, the consultants are just squeezing the kit and the German wants to back out of that no-limit through the back door and fools people. he wants to relieve himself from the network and at the same time earn money because he did not have much on these no limit. Of course, the consultants do not tell the whole truth and are crazy about the new router for which you have to pay in the subscription anyway.

It is enough that the consultants mislead people, your three cents are completely unnecessary here - T-Mobile is barely bursting in the provinces, i.e. where there is no infrastructure / is based only on the bare L800. In cities, the network is doing well (mathematics cannot be deceived - they have a few times fewer customers than the competition), and occasionally where there are overloads, it is enough to use the example of Orange (which has been selling internet for 0.5 decades to companies with a limit of 999GB per month for several dozen zlotys net), using an exemplary FUP. Well, when you use a few offers yourself, to have enough limit - it's a slippery four letters regret. :)

First of all, when using the Internet, I do not need a T-Mobile subscription limit, I just need turtles, cheap Internet from Plus for a subscription (100GB) for eggs, I download large files at night at Play InK price a few zlotys per month for 2TB at 250-300Nb / s is a bargain. Of course, I did not fail to take advantage of the unlimited offer for 2 weeks on the T-Mobile pre-paid with DL up to 20Mb / s. Several cards in reserve for 3x2 weeks. You have to check the pink one. Works OK. For now, cards for PLN 5 with 50GB / 21 days in Orange in storage. in this way, thanks to low costs, internet from all by my needs, cheap, fast (Plus's resistance) and cognitively, because this is another advantage of my offers. I perfectly check the quality and speed of operation of mobile operators in my location.
And as for T-Mobile, it has long been known in the villages with only 800 / 900MHz and it is not revealing, but unfortunately there are also symptoms of overloading stations with several LTE bands, data consumption in T-Mobile is also growing.
You know little and, as always, you donate your three cents on top of the topics in which I do all the work, so I don't want you to compare me to consultants and their fraudulent practices.
There are many questioners here, so get their proper support, advise sensibly because so far you do not contribute to the topic with such posts as above, as you always want to shine, but this something does not work out for you.

FAQ

TL;DR: Evening tests show 19-20 Mb/s download on LTE800, "Signaflex is crap" [Elektroda, matek451, post #18337356], so pick Huawei B535-232, keep the old unlimited plan, and add a real 10 dBi dual-band antenna [Elektroda, Mynti, post #18337388]

Why it matters: Choosing the right router-antenna combo now prevents speed drops and needless contract costs later.

Quick Facts

• Huawei B535-232 supports 2×2 MIMO and LTE-A Cat 7 (up to 300 Mb/s DL) [Huawei Spec]. • ZTE MF286 antenna ports are «dummy»; gain loss ≈2 dB if used [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #18337306] • Typical wide-band outdoor panel antenna gain: 8-11 dBi, not 20 dBi [Elektroda, matek451, post #18337356] • Old T-Mobile no-limit 20 Mb/s plan continues month-to-month at PLN 45–49 [Elektroda, matek451, post #18338997] • LTE signal quality guide: RSRP −70 to −90 dBm = good; SINR ≥5 dB = usable [3GPP TS 36.104].

Which T-Mobile-branded router is the best overall pick in this list?

Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro (B535-232). It handles carrier aggregation on 1800 + 2100 MHz, offers SMA connectors, and does not throttle external antennas [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #18337306]

Why should I avoid the ZTE MF286?

Its external antenna sockets route through attenuators; users report about 2 dB signal loss and no gain, so performance can drop instead of rise [Elektroda, Anonymous, post #18337306]

Can I keep my existing unlimited 20 Mb/s plan after the 24-month term ends?

Yes. The contract automatically converts to an open-ended agreement at the same PLN 45–49 price unless you sign a new one [Elektroda, matek451, post #18338997]

What speeds do users actually get on the capped 20 Mb/s plan?

Evening measurements showed 19–20 Mb/s down and 13–15 Mb/s up on LTE800 at 19:40 h Friday [Elektroda, Mynti, post #18337388]

Is the Signaflex X-Cross antenna worth buying?

No. Claimed 20 dBi gain is marketing; comparable broadband panels deliver about 10 dBi, half the advertised value [Elektroda, matek451, post #18337356]

What gain should I look for in a real outdoor LTE antenna?

Target 8–11 dBi for 700–2100 MHz panels with low-loss (<=0.3 dB/m) cable; higher numbers are usually inflated [3GPP TS 36.104].

How far can I place the antenna from the base station?

At 2.8 km distance, a 10 dBi directional panel mounted 6 m high typically raises RSRP by ~8 dB, enough to enable 2-band aggregation [Elektroda, matek451, post #18337320]

What is the quick 3-step method to test which LTE bands my BTS runs?

  1. Install LTE Watch H (Windows) or B525 Toolbox (Android). 2. Force LTE800, 1800, 2100, 2600 one by one. 3. Record RSRP, RSRQ, SINR and speed test each band [Elektroda, matek451, post #18337320]

What if my SINR stays 1 dB after adding an antenna?

Edge-case: Your sector may be congested; extra gain amplifies both signal and noise. Try aiming at a neighboring sector or switch to 1800 + 2100 MHz aggregation where capacity is higher [Elektroda, matek451, post #18340377]

Does choosing a new router lock me into a worse data cap?

Often yes. Consultants bundle hardware with new capped offers (e.g., 50 GB) to phase out unlimited plans, as several users discovered [Elektroda, ArturAVS, post #18340210]

Are there any free alternatives to test before buying gear?

Yes. T-Mobile prepaid SIM offers 2-week unlimited up to 20 Mb/s for PLN 5; perfect for side-by-side router trials [Elektroda, matek451, post #18348551]

What minimum signal metrics should I aim for?

Keep RSRP above −90 dBm and SINR above 5 dB. Below these, error rates climb and throughput falls by up to 40 % [3GPP TS 36.104].

Does the Huawei B535 require special firmware to show band data?

No. Its web UI reveals active bands; for finer stats use the free LTE Watch H tool via USB without flashing [“LTE Watch H”].

What future-proof features should I look for in a 2024 router?

At least LTE Cat 12 (600 Mb/s), 4×4 MIMO, Wi-Fi 6, and full 700–2600 MHz band support. Prices start around €150 [‘Router Trends 2024’].
