    Good day.
    I have an Asus ROG G752VSK laptop in which, after some update, the keyboard probably stopped working in Windows 8 (also in bios). Updating the bios to the latest didn't change anything.

    https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-G752VS/HelpDesk_Download/

    There is an extensive thread on this issue on the foreign asus forum:

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?88918-G752VS-ASUS-Keyboard-Adjustment-Tool/page22

    Unfortunately, none of the solutions listed there work.

    The keyboard is detected as: PC / AT PS / 2 extended keyboard (102/102 keys) without any exclamation marks as working correctly.

    After installing all the drivers, only one top button for video recording worked. I also replaced the keyboard with the second one, so I can be sure that the first one is working.

    - After forcing HID drivers on it, I have an exclamation mark and it doesn't work either.

    - I read about Asus Keybord Adjustment Tool, which was supposed to update the keyboard software, but in my case it shows a message that my computer does not support this software.

    Asus ROG G752VSK - The keyboard does not work

    I reset the bios by unplugging the bios battery. I reinstalled Win 10. I installed all the drivers from the manufacturer's website before connecting to the internet.

    I also read about the program "ASUS NKey FW Update Tool_v0.0.9T2.exe", which, from what I guessed, changes the software in the keyboard. Even on one forum, someone once shared files for this program for a specific laptop model, but the files and the program are no longer available for download.

    -------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

    I was able to go back to the previous bios version with Win Flash from ASUS

    At the command prompt:
    cd C: \ Program Files (x86) \ ASUS \ WinFlash
    Winflash / nodate

    Unfortunately, it had no effect. Which clearly proves that it is about the keyboard software and not the bios of the disc.

    -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------

    I found some useful information on the next forum. Unfortunately not for my model.

    https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-278890-17-1.html

    Asus releases updates as KBFWUpdateTool / ROGKBFWUpdateTool. I found two versions.

    KBFWUpdateTool_v1.0.5 which theoretically is to fix the problem with keyboards in models:

    app name: ROGKBFWUpdateTool
    app version: V1.0.5
    previous fw version: GL503GE.218.0 | GL703GE.218.0 | F0NK1000.G703GI.303 | F0NK1000.G703GS.303 | F0NK1000.GL703GM.203 | F0NK1000.GL703GS.203
    : F0NK1000.GM501GM.204 | F0NK1000.GM501GS.204 | F0NK1000.GU501GM.204 | F0NK1000.Gx501GI.104
    fw version: GL503GE.220.0 | GL703GE.220.0 | F0NK1000.G703GI.304 | F0NK1000.G703GS.304 | F0NK1000.GL703GM.204 | F0NK1000.GL703GS.204
    : F0NK1000.GM501GM.205 | F0NK1000.GM501GS.205 | F0NK1000.GU501GM.205 | F0NK1000.Gx501GI.105

    ROGKBFWUpdateTool_v2.2.2:

    G531GW
    G531GV
    G531GU
    G531GT
    G531GD
    G731GW
    G731GV
    G731GU
    G731GT

    ASUS Keyboard Adjustment Tool V1.0.3.0 .:
    GL702
    GL502

    Unfortunately, my model is nowhere to be found.

    -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------

    I still thought that maybe the bios is just uploaded not from this model, but after reading a forum:

    G752VSK has Kaby Lake I and -7820HK CPU, uses CM238 chipset, BIOS is 4.16 big
    G752VS (7th generation CPU) has Kaby Lake i7-7700HQ CPU, uses CM238 chipset, BIOS is 4.16 large
    G752VS has Skylake i7 6700HK or i7 6820HQ processor, uses CM236 chipset, BIOS is 2.61MB Small system

    Turns out the one I have is the G752VSK.

    The touchpad is working. The keyboard only works with the record button that launches nvidia applications. No adjustment function is working.

    Spoiler:
    I am not responsible for any damage you might do to your hardware !
    Y OU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK ! I ONLY PROVIDE POINTERS , DO NOT REPRESENT ASUS AND ONLY POST THIS AS INFORMATIVE I DO NOT PRETEND ITS A SURE FIX AND THIS MIGHT DAMAGE YOUR LAPTOP !

    How to obtain the files :
    Install 7zip
    Download "ASUS Keyboard Adjustment Tool" from Downloads->Others.
    Open archive, extract KeyboardUpdate.exe

    Right click on it, 7zip->Open Archive
    Inside it, go to .rscr ->1028
    Extract folder Binary on your desktop.
    Go to folder. Create new folder inside called "fw tool".
    Right click on file FW_TOOL ->7zip->Open archive
    Extract files in "fw_tool" folder

    Go to "fw tool" folder
    Go to "INI" folder.
    Edit file UsbUpdate.ini
    Change initial values to this:

    [MESSAGE]
    RECORD_MESSAGE=1

    [FUNCTION]
    AUTO_RUN=1
    CHECK_THEN_UPDATE_FW=0
    CHECK_FW_ONLY=0
    FORCE_CHECK_AND_UPDATE_FW=1

    Now for the tricky part .
    Inside the "fw tool" folder , there 's a NK.bin

    That file is initially with a version or hardware name of NK00060003
    That version resulted in the keys switch.
    You have to replace that file with one of the NK* files in the main "Binary" folder.
    For me "FW_NK0003000B" worked. For you ,it might be different.
    You need to copy that file over the NK.bin - delete the original, copy file and change its name to NK.bin

    Then just run the exe, ASUS NKey FW Update Tool_v0.0.9T2.exe
    You will need to wait for a few minutes, during which you will see the keyboard backlight blinking.
    After a successful run, the tool will produce a log (ASUS_USB_Update_Result.log) that reads something like this:

    Load setting parameters from ini file......Done !

    File path : C:\Users\x\Desktop\New folder\fw tool\NK.bin

    File size : 57344KB

    File FW version : NK0003000B

    [Tip] : Press AUTO button to update FW.

    Searching USB device......

    Found device, VID/PID = 0B05/1837.

    ASUS HID device initialization done !

    Device FW : NK00060003

    Entering flash mode......Done !

    ========= Start Update Device FW ===========

    Flash erasing......Done !

    Flash is checking......Done !

    Flash is programing......Done !

    Flash is verifying......Done !

    PASS !

    Reset device, please wait......

    For reference, my Model Number is G752VS-GB125T. Again, another file might be needed for your model.

    Proof of fix :
    OMG! It worked! You are a genius, for the record i used FW_NK0003000B with a ROG GL502VSK latest firmware 309.
    I am pretty sure the clowns in the service center would say the motherboard is broken for the keyboard and would recommend i purchase a new one. To all struggling with this laptop keyboard not working this is most definitely a firmware issue for the keyboard and not a BIOS issue. Thank you soooooo much you are a life saver and to all in this forum. I know your tutorial is 3yrs old but it's Oct 2019 and it's a life saver. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!

    I just found this yesterday too. Only in these files, as I checked, there is the g752vs model, not vsk, but today I will try to do everything as described.

    As instructed, we have fixed the problem :)
    Below I have created instructions on how to do this.

    1. Open the KeyboardUpdate.exe file with 7-zip
    2. Enter the location: .tscr-> 1028-> BINARY
    3. Create a "fw tool" folder on the desktop and extract the entire contents of the "BINARY" folder to the "fw tool" folder
    4. Use 7-zip to extract the contents of the "FW_TOOL" file in the "fw tool" folder
    5. 3 things unpacked:

    -ASUS NKey FW Update Tool_v0.0.9T2.exe
    -RW_EC_MEM
    -INI

    and apart from these 3 new things you have all the files of the "BINARY" folder

    7. Go to the INI folder and open the file "UsbUpdate.ini"
    8. We change the content of the file to be consistent with the following:

    [MESSAGE]
    RECORD_MESSAGE = 1

    [FUNCTION]
    AUTO_RUN = 1
    CHECK_THEN_UPDATE_FW = 0
    CHECK_FW_ONLY = 0
    FORCE_CHECK_AND_UPDATE_FW = 1

    9. Save the changes.
    10. Change the name of the file "FW_NK0003000B" to NK.bin. For me and on the forum:

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?88918-G752VS-ASUS-Keyboard-Adjustment-Tool/page23

    this file worked, although the author of this solution wrote that it could be any other file with a name containing "NK". I also changed the file named "NK00060003" to some other name, although I don't know if it had any effect, because from what I understand this file was causing some problem.
    11. Run the file "ASUS NKey FW Update Tool_v0.0.9T2.exe"
    12. The "ASUS_USB_Update_Result.log" file should appear with information about the correct update and the keyboard started working in a moment.

    I am very happy that it has succeeded :)

    In the attachment I am sending a ready, already prepared set of files in a packed folder "fw tool". Theoretically, it is enough to unpack to the desktop and run the file "ASUS NKey FW Update Tool_v0.0.9T2.exe"
