    Hello colleagues - computer experts.
Well, I have such a problem with the laptop as in the title.

I sold a colleague to the above laptop was functional. has uploaded Windows XP with Pack 3 service.

Everything was OK. After a few days he called brought Asus and the touchpad and keyboard did not work. it happens so::

after switching on the touchpad - the mouse works, you can open folders normally, activate functions until you press any button on the keyboard, then everything locks, the keyboard and touchpad do not work. I mention that after turning on only the touchpad works, the keyboard does not work when Windows starts.

By connecting an external mouse and keyboard these work properly.
I searched the messages on various forums, but those mainly concern Windows 8. I have redone the steps of the tips and nothing helped, I restored the system, I went to LOCAL MACHINE and everything is OK. I also pulled out the battery because it does not hold anything and the same on the power supply itself. Or is it the motherboard, some bridge is failing.

I am asking for advice because it is nice, big old equipment. Thanks in advance for the hints

Can you enter the BIOS or Boot Menu using a laptop or USB keyboard?
Do numlock and capslock diodes work - those on the laptop case?

Hello. In the evening I will check, although the keyboard does not work from the beginning, I will not enter the bios using the laptop keyboard, I did not try using the USB keyboard, I did not pay attention to the controls, but if it does not work at all, it probably does not switch the function, in the evening I will check and write. Regards.

Hello. I'm sorry this is late but such a job.

The external USB keyboard only works after the system loads, so there is no way to enter the bios.

as I described above - after launching the tuochpad system and its buttons work properly until you press any keyboard button and then everything is locked. You cannot turn on the capslock with a laptop keyboard, because when pressed it immediately locks.
So there is no option to enter the bios. I don't know if re-installing the system will fix the case, but I think not.

So you have the same problem as the Asus X70IO which is in my repair. I replaced the keyboard without any changes (without the keyboard too), no visible damage such as flooding / burning / corrosion of elements, I suspect damage to the KBC system (keyboard controller layout, touchpad and a few other things) or its adjacency. I don't fix it myself, but maybe I will send it to an external service, then I will write something more.

Maybe the system just needs to heat up a little.

An external service wrote "damage to the hybrid bridge" and returned the laptop due to the lack of availability of parts.

Hello. I solved the problem. I connected an external keyboard and it works great.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an Asus Z83D laptop experiencing keyboard and touchpad freezing issues after installing Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Initially, the touchpad functions correctly upon startup, but the keyboard becomes unresponsive after any key is pressed, locking both input devices. External USB keyboards and mice work fine, but the user cannot access the BIOS due to the keyboard's failure. Suggestions include checking the BIOS with a USB keyboard, potential damage to the keyboard controller (KBC), and the possibility of a hybrid bridge issue. Ultimately, the user resolved the problem by using an external keyboard, which functioned properly.
