    I warmly welcome!
    I would like someone to explain to me what exactly bridge mode does.
    I am about to get a Genexis router from my provider that does not have bridge mode.
    I currently have another bridge mode router connected to my ASUS AC88U.
    If I connect the new router from a port, e.g. LAN1 to my ASUS in the Switch or WAN port, will it also be ok?
    I know it will work, but without the bridge mode, will I have bigger pings etc?

    Bridge mode means that the device behaves almost like a piece of wire. All it does is swap different physical signals.
    If you have two routers at home, connected as you wrote (to the WAN port), you will have double NAT and some services will not work (e.g. online gaming on the console, VoIP phone, VPN etc.).
    You can use your router only as an additional AP (LAN-LAN connection between devices) to improve coverage somewhere in the corners of your home:
