Understanding 100Mbps Internet Speed via Coaxial Cable in Apartment Block with Cisco EPC3925

    Hello, when renting an apartment in a block, I used the services of a local provider that offered 100Mbps speed. One thing puzzles me here, there was a coaxial cable leading to the apartment, the transmission speed of which is 10 Mb / s. In the technical school, they also taught me that coaxial cables are already being abandoned. The router I got from the provider is Cisco EPC3925, so how is it possible that the speed of the Internet provided was 100Mb/s (of course, taking into account the speed without start) and why don't I use a different medium?

    The transmission to/from the modem is broadband, and in Ethernet (10base2) 10Mb is in the baseband.

    10Mbps Ethernet over coax is prehistoric. Back in the day, 19.2kbps over the phone line was all the rage, now it's VDSL and 80Mbps. The same used to be on the 10Mbps Ethernet coaxial, and now we have DOCSIS and 1Gbps on the coaxial (actually, DOCSIS 3.1 will probably get even 10Gbps, but who has such a computer at home). There used to be analog transmission, and now we have broadband digital transmission, using hundreds of subcarriers, which was impossible to implement using analog methods (at least in a reasonable way).
    And coax in blocks is used because it is, because makeshift repairs can be done with a knife, and you can plug such a cable directly into the TV set.

    And very often it is already there, you do not need to install it from 0.
    If you do it from 0, they rather make a fiber optic cable to the apartment.

    Combining up to 8 downstream channels with a total bandwidth exceeding 440 Mbps.
    Combining up to 4 upstream channels with a total bandwidth exceeding 120 Mbps.
    So on this modem router you can be sure that the internet will work stably in the order of 300-350Mb.
    This is an old modem in the old EuroDOCSIS3.0 (ED3.0).
    Operators like Vectra, UPC are already introducing DOCSIS3.1 (D3.1) - here we already have 1Gb internet for downloading and depending on which op set it for uploading. In theory, you can upload up to 10Gb on downloads and 1Gb on uploads.
    There is also DOCSIS3.1 Full Duplex, where we have symmetric 10Gb/10Gb links.
    And behind the door awaits DOCSIS4.0...
