I have searched the internet for these displays and unfortunately they are not completely compatible. The touch sensor is glued a bit differently in both of these screens and it is related to the different configuration of the touch controller. Updating the PocketBook firmware overwrites this configuration and thus may break the touch operation. Some solution is to disable the update.

He concludes that the controller is the same and only the soft differs. I do not have to check, because now I have two ED060XH7 screens

I was still browsing the motherboards of both readers in search of some resistor pulling some line to ground depending on the screen used and I found a different chip soldered to the motherboard, I marked it in the photo.

On February 25, the latest update to this reader was released, it focuses mainly on improving file support, but maybe someone of you has already tested this screen replacement, does it support it?

I checked and I admit that the latest software does not change anything in this topic. Version 6.3.499 and the ED060XH7 display do not work together ;)

If someone had a changed screen and yet was interested in updating the software, just do this:
    1. We download the soft we are interested in from the manufacturer's website.
    2. Unpack the archive on the SD card so that the SWUPDATE.BIN file is in the root directory of the SD card
    3. Turn the reader off and insert it into the soft SD card
    4. Remove the back of the reader. On the right side at the top of the motherboard next to the battery connector is connected a touch. For the duration of the update, disconnect it after disconnecting the battery - connect the battery.
    5. Start the reader by holding down the back keys (< ;) and front (> ;) .
    6. The reader updates itself without requiring any confirmation by the touch panel and does not change anything in the touch controller
    7. After the update is finished, turn off the reader, disconnect the batteries, connect the touch and reconnect the battery.

Pocket Book Touch Lux 4 Screen Replacement: Transferring Touch Function & ED060XH7 Compatibility

Topic summary

The discussion addresses the replacement of the cracked screen on the PocketBook Touch Lux 4 e-reader, focusing on the transferability of the touch function and compatibility of the ED060XH7 display used in the PocketBook Touch Lux 3. The original screen’s touch panel is glued to the LCD with LOCA UV glue, making removal and reattachment challenging. The ED060XH7 screen is physically similar in resolution and size to the original ED060XCD but differs in touch sensor placement and controller configuration, causing compatibility issues. Firmware updates on the Lux 4 can disable touch functionality when using the ED060XH7 screen due to differing touch controller software. Downgrading firmware or avoiding updates may temporarily restore touch, but official updates often fail or cause errors. A workaround involves disconnecting the touch panel during firmware updates to prevent overwriting touch controller settings. Some users successfully replaced the screen with ED060XH7 after sourcing compatible ribbon cables and using donor devices for testing. The touch controller chip identified on ED060XH7 is ELAN Yilong eKTF2232ALW. Attempts to calibrate or reset the device without touch input are limited due to lack of navigation without a working touch screen. OTG mouse support is generally unavailable. The device runs on an Allwinner A13 system, and recovery modes are not well documented. Overall, the original screen or exact compatible replacements are recommended for reliable touch functionality, and firmware management is critical when using alternative screens.
