Hello, I`m new to this forum, hello to everyone ;)

I would like to point out that I am a layman when it comes to computers and I need help.

Is it possible to completely remove the operating system from a laptop? The idea is that the Bios itself will appear after startup. I bought a laptop without an operating system, but unfortunately I have to return it. I want to restore it to its pre-purchase condition. I uploaded the system myself from a pendrive. Uncle Google only shows how to format, and I don`t want to re-upload the system. I want to completely remove it from my computer. I hope I explained clearly what I mean ;]

    Regards!

From the installer, delete the partitions and cancel the installation. Or make a bootable pendrive with Gparted.

If you are worried that someone might want to recover private data from the drive, you can perform a zero reset using mhdd, for example.

What I`m more concerned about is that when they return it, they won`t worry about the system being installed. As I mentioned, I bought a laptop without an operating system, so I would like to return it as well.

    And you don`t have to.
Since you have already installed the system, proceed in the same way, but only until the partition is deleted, then disconnect your pendrive, turn off the laptop and that`s it.
If you have any data on this disk, follow the instructions given by safbot1st.

So I understand correctly - at the stage of selecting/formatting the partition, I should delete the partition where the system is located (I only have one), then take out the pendrive, turn off the laptop and that`s it?

Yes, the system partition will be deleted and the disk will be clean.

Thank you all for your help, I deleted the system partition, when I start the laptop I get the message `reboot and select proper boot device`, I hope it`s OK.

It`s ok. The system partition has been deleted.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the process of completely removing an operating system from a laptop to restore it to a BIOS-only boot state. The user seeks guidance on how to achieve this after having installed an OS from a USB drive. Responses suggest using the OS installer to delete the system partition or employing GParted to manage disk partitions. It is emphasized that after deleting the system partition, the laptop will display a message indicating the absence of a bootable device, which is expected and confirms the successful removal of the OS.
