As you know, the TV standard is changing and my current TV set does not receive DVB-T2, I will have to buy a set-top box. Additionally, I would like it to support Netflix. I would not like to have two devices because, as you know, it requires additional electricity.
However, it's hard to find such a tuner. Has anyone met such a tuner?
I'll connect to the question. I watched the test of the Canal box proposed above and its remote control and control is a failure (in terms of DVB-T2). I looked at the MeCool KT1 but the price is high and I do not collect crazy opinions. Can you recommend something else, strictly for DVB-T2 and Netflix / HBO?
There is also a certification problem with Netflix. Not all devices advertised as supporting this website guarantee that the application will not stop working someday. In addition, non-certified devices do not receive movies in the highest definition and no HDR. Before I bought the Xiaomi Mi Box, I also looked at some MeCool model. In the end, I bet on a guarantee of trouble-free work with Netflix.
Overall, I have the same problem. I would like one device DVB-T2 Hevc and Netflix decoder. This is how I found this thread. I'm still looking, because I haven't found the answer.
I already have a Xiaomi Mi Box - certified by Netflix. And I think I will buy the cheapest decoder only for TV. I am not so worried about electricity, even over the years these are penny matters, how much device is asleep? 0.35W? In addition, it is not completely wasted energy because it still heats the house . The comfort of use hurts me more. You will have to switch between the TV's HDMI inputs and have at least two remote controls. I hope that the remote control from the tuner will also operate the TV. Three pilots would be a massacre.

Exactly, more electro-waste later.
It is known that it makes the most sense to replace the TV set. Then there is all in one only why get rid of a working TV and spend PLN 2,000. It will not pay off any more.
For this you need more space to keep all these devices. Extra cables. It's getting a mess
I took this CanalPlus tuner and it's a bit of a mess. Everything seems to work but in the case of terrestrial TV it has a parental lock sewn in and unfortunately we will not watch programs with a "red key". Not that I really care about watching it. Yesterday, for example, on ESKA TV, the "Warsaw Shore" program could not be watched, so a bit of a lame. It is enough for a broadcaster to mark something as an "adult" program, e.g. a movie where blood is spilled and you cannot watch anymore (unless you have internet TV, not terrestrial TV)
Now the question is whether there is anything competitive, because at the price of PLN 169 it is difficult to find a DVB-T2 tuner with Netflix. The cheapest Xiaomi Stick (in addition HD, not 4K) + DVB-T2 tuner, the cost of a minimum of PLN 100 more.
Recently, I had a similar dilemma with DVB-T2 and HBOMAX - I solved the matter by buying two separate devices ... but in the meantime, for the family I did it differently. Some businessman probably bought a palette of android decoders from T-Mobil - which most likely had to be withdrawn from the market because they do not have access to HBBTV - and puts them on All ... ro (search: Tuner DVB-T2 HEVC Google Chromecast Android TV) This is Kaon KSTB6077 - For about PLN 200 you will get a Korean DVB-T2 HEVC decoder and an Android TV Oreo stick in one - with access to the Google Play store from which you can install Netflix and other applications. It is not only possible to record programs from terrestrial as with an ordinary decoder. Checked, works without problems ... and probably more interesting than those boxes from C or Orange
I was thinking about Kaon KSTB6077 and Play Now TV Box 2.
I am currently testing Canal + Box. 1. Canal + box works fairly well. I have to check HDMI-CEC carefully because I'm not convinced it works. It doesn't work with TCL. Minus? 2. The remote control for the Canal + decoder is definitely not dedicated to an older person. A big minus for me. 3. Support for terrestrial television via Live channels is a failure. Can't set channels on my own list?
4. As for Play Now TV Box 2 it is even worse. I have read user reviews and the conclusion is that one device from Play is not suitable for watching terrestrial TV.
My guess is that Koan is also live channels and channels that cannot be sorted out? I think right? The remote control sold in Poland does not have a numeric keypad?
I went through a topic from 2 years ago. I bought various set-top boxes, even a thousand. Generally linden. Probably none of them has certified Netflix. It can be installed manually, but then using any remote control is a total massacre If someone finds a dvbt2 with netflix, he buys immediately
Has anyone tested the DVB-T2 Mascom MC A101T / C Tuner? The seller from Allegro claims that he supports Netflix in 4k but there are no tests or opinions about the device anywhere. It is definitely not certified for Netflix because the auction has a link to the installer: (...) com.netflix.ninja_8.1.2_build_3844_mod_V2.5.apk, and the remote control does not have a dedicated button.
I have Mi Box S - it works great and has Netflix certification. I wanted to expand it with DVB-T2, because I also did not want to have 40 remotes at home. I bought a stick (EVOLVEO Sigma T2 - it's a clone of myGica T230C) but unfortunately it cuts a lot and you can't watch it. MiBox's specification is too weak to pull it off.
So now either this Mascom or I'm staying with the MiBox some regular DVB-T2 tuner separately.
All tuners where they say that it supports netflix - they support netflix. But as I say: if you have to upload it like an APK, then using this remote control is practically impossible. It takes a few minutes to select and run a movie from the remote control.
The advantage of this Mascot is Android TV, and thus easy operation with a remote control. You are probably right with this APK, because this is how I uploaded the CCTV camera support to the MiBox and it was almost a miracle to embrace it even with a connected mouse.
So it turns out that you have to forget about the wonderful mediaboxes or, in this case, comboboxes and buy a regular DVB-T2 tuner.
It's time to refresh the thread, because so much has happened on the VOD platform market in recent months that you have to ask the question - why look for a media player for NETFLIX only ??
Since Disney has appeared on the Polish market, there is no VOD platform that is able to match them with the scope of the content presented (much better in terms of quality than what on Netflix). Personally, I value Disney, HBO Max and ... YouTube more than Netflix, and for me only such buttons could appear on the remote control with a guarantee of use for X time ...
I am currently looking for a SMART media player, preferably with a DVB-T2 / S tuner for my well-worn 10-year-old SONY KDL 40EX720, in which the manufacturer turned off the YouTube application in the 3rd year of use (i.e. it was 2015), and from the remaining SMART options practically impossible to use at present - simply the processor / RAM of this TV is not able to "pull".
Taking the above into account - I can see 3 problems that probably condemn us (consumers) to choose two separate devices with two separate remote controls (i.e. with a total of three - counting the one from the TV):
1) there is no large selection on the market among multimedia "harvesters" with access to the SMART application (usually on Android 9 to 11) in conjunction with a DVB-T2 tuner and satellite TV tuner
For example, I found something like this (I do not know this brand and therefore do not trust it):
... And little else. Seriously. Poorly. It looks better when you look for a decoder and a SMART plug separately.
2) Unfortunately, you have to take into account that whatever you choose, it may be rubbish in 3-4 years, because either we will switch to an even newer terrestrial TV broadcasting signal, or the development of Android will go so far that the obsolete built-in apps will start to fail and, as in androids - they will hang. This also speaks for the choice of separate devices. Then it is enough to replace only what has lost its functionality.
3) I will come back to this NETFLIX with content for teenagers or fans of B cinema. Annoyingly, most devices on the remote control mainly have a button with the logo of this platform. Well, when I'm looking for something where this button is not - I'll find something else, e.g. the one below (another unknown "no name" :
but when I'm looking for a SMART BOX with a button in the remote control "Disney ", and especially "HBO MAX" - forget it completely.
Unfortunately, which is hard to believe, but the choice among sensible SMART BOXes with built-in DVBT2 S tuners is so small that it is practically possible to replace the TV, or definitely choose one of the variants - either a separate SMART plug or a separate decoder.
I have exactly the same problem (sorry I won't help) I am also looking for a SAT or TV set-top box with Android support and VOD apps. Forget about certified Netflix (even if you don't care about it, there are productions there that are worth watching). It would be a dream if the set-top box had 2 SAT inputs, 1 TV and Ethernet, USB 3.0, and certified Netflix, and 4k support.
Theoretically, it should run. But this is not a DVB-T2 decoder with Netflix support. These are two different devices. Ordinary Android Box (good processor, little RAM) and a separate DVB-T2 decoder. Well, that's how you can make anything. Because android boxes with Netflix are full. And add a DVB-T2 decoder to them (directly or directly to the TV). The advantage here is that it can be controlled by one remote control.
But as for one pilot, it can still be solved differently. For example, I had a lot more devices in my time (e.g. receiver) and I controlled the programmable logitech pilot. Another thing is that such a decent pilto costs a few hundred.
>>20052453 Today is March 12, 2024. I tested the Mascom tuner, but of a newer generation, namely Mascom MC A102T/C. Android TV version 10.0 is installed there and Netflix is normally installed and updated from the Google Store. The device presents itself as KT1, as if it were MeCool KT1. Looking at both devices, they actually look the same and have similar functionalities. However, I cannot currently verify the signal quality because there is no Netflix subscription and a 4K resolution screen (Full HD only).
In my opinion, this is the best version of such a tuner, apart from the digital sound output (S/PDIF, COAXIAL, OPTICAL). However, it has A/V outputs on Jack 3.5, which allows you to connect headphones or other speakers or another mixer/amplifier.
In the current version of the tuner's software, updated in the Google store, I see 4 shortcomings:
1. less painful - there are no descriptions of program content in the EPG in the Live TV application. 2. more painful - recording is only possible to an external drive (SD card or other) formatted to exFat. You cannot format the card from the device, because then the tuner will not see it as an external drive.
3. to record something, the tuner must be turned on. It will not turn on automatically according to the scheduled recording.
4. and probably the most sensitive one - when we record a program from a DVB-T2 channel and move between channels within the same multiplex, the image becomes pixelated in the recording. This is, I think, a very serious problem, a software or head error.
The tuner cost PLN 379 on Allegro or PLN 359 on other websites apart from Allegro.
The discussion revolves around finding a DVB-T2 decoder that supports Netflix, as users seek a single device solution to avoid multiple remotes and energy consumption. Several devices are mentioned, including the Canal + Box 4K, which allows use as a terrestrial TV receiver without a subscription, and the MeCool KT1, noted for its high price and mixed reviews. Users express concerns about Netflix certification, as many devices claiming support may not guarantee functionality or high-definition streaming. The Kaon KSTB6077 is highlighted as a promising option, combining DVB-T2 HEVC decoding with Android TV capabilities, allowing Netflix installation. The Mascom MC A102T/C is also mentioned as a newer model with Android TV 10.0 and Netflix compatibility. Overall, users are looking for reliable, all-in-one solutions that minimize clutter and maximize functionality. Summary generated by the language model.
