Hello, there is a simple matter I want to set up a Minecraft server, I already have a server configured on Ubuntu BUT unfortunately it did not go without a problem.
The problem is the connect box from UPC, because there is no port assignment for IPv4 only there is some filter for IPv6. It just needs to assign port 25565 to my server. I tried something with this IPv6 but the Minecraft server wouldn't start
To connect to the server it uses Duck DNS and domains
I've been struggling with this for a few days and don't know what to do anymore
    I used this tutorial -> youtube.com/watch?v=eIHiRW4QH6I&t
The following shows what it looks like with me

And it won't start, because ipv6 itself you won't turn off in the operator's CB, you have to call the operator's hotline about it.
That is, if you want ipv4 forwarding, you have to contact the operator.
The operator will remotely reset the modem, send a different provisioning, ipv6 will disappear and ipv4 will appear.

Remember also that the public IP on UPC is dynamically variable, that is, when this IP changes, the IP of your game server will change and you will have to inform the players about it.
Well, let's hope you have a strong upload on this Internet :D .

You don't need to call, just on the help page disable ipv6, you will only need your customer number.

As far as I know, this option hasn't worked for some time.
In any case, the UPC website itself only gives a phone contact for this issue:
    Tab ipv6 problems

I mean, as I understand it, I contact the UPC to change my ipv6 to ipv4 and then there will normally be an option to assign ports using ipv4?

    Exactly so.

Just a small note, changing this ipv6->ipv4 will cause the UPC modem to have to reboot, that is, you will lose your Internet connection for about 10 minutes - this is a normal symptom, this is how it is supposed to be.
After such a reboot, the modem will restart on its own, after you log into the modem you will already have the ipv4 option.

If the consultant makes problems :D (sometimes they are stubborn :D ), communicate to him that you want to connect your own private router under their CB.
For such an issue posed (such a verbal "circumvention" of the resistance of the consultant), they "soften" more.

I understand. I did this a long time ago and based on that everything works.

    As it worked, it worked.
Somehow around 2019-2020 it stopped working - official position why there is no official position, but I have a suspicion that it is because of UPC pushing ipv6.
Ipv4 exhausted, expensive, it's scarce so they had to buy as they ran out.
Ipv6 there is so much of it that maybe in long decades the pool will be exhausted, so both cheaper and simpler.
Ipv6 automatically got everyone (everyone new, and even the old ones were able to screw up the number), the problem is:
    - with this ipv6 do not work well games, and sometimes do not work at all,
    - with ipv6 there is no option in the UPC equipment modem, and yet some people want to have their own router and the modem option is just for this,
    - does not work for example VoIP Internet telephony independent of the operator,
    - there were also problems with VPN,
And this way, you did not have to ask anyone, cloak yourself, you hit the portal, there you dealt with it yourself, a few minutes and the problem solved.
Someone apparently bothered, because the posts in Excel showed different results than their assumptions - and these posts are the costs incurred on ipv4.

I called, the gentleman from UPC was nice, he changed me to these IPv4, I configured these ports and everything works

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around setting up a Minecraft server on Ubuntu while facing port assignment issues with the UPC Connect Box. The main problem is the lack of IPv4 port assignment, as the Connect Box only supports IPv6. Users suggest contacting UPC to switch from IPv6 to IPv4, which allows for port forwarding (specifically port 25565 for Minecraft). It is noted that this change may require a modem reboot, temporarily disrupting the internet connection. Some users mention that the option to disable IPv6 via the UPC help page may not be effective, and direct communication with UPC is recommended. After successfully switching to IPv4, the original poster confirmed that the server configuration worked as intended.
