    Hello,

For some time now, my terrestrial television has only 6 channels and all of them are standard (TVP1, 2, Info).
We moved into the house about 3 months ago, and when I connected the antenna, everything worked fine.
The TV is adapted to the new reception system (LG 55SM8200PLA TV).

    What could have gone wrong?

We do not search automatically, but manually.
You need to manually select which MUX (the channel on which this MUX is broadcast)
we are looking and we want to watch.
Once we know what MUX we are looking for (it depends on where we live and what transmitter we have access to, information available on the Internet)
We check what its signal looks like on our TV or decoder.
If it shows that everything is OK, i.e. the signal strength and quality are OK, then click search and that's it.
If it shows us that the signal strength and quality are bad, then we need to take care of the antenna, because it is responsible for the correct signal.

What kind of house is this, what does the antenna installation look like, where does the reception come from? We need to know this to suggest something.
How to search and check the signal is described in #4.

Due to the change of transmitter locations in the Łódź region, modernization of the antenna installation is required.

I also have an LG, maybe a slightly different model, and I do it like this:
I press the gear button on the remote control
At the very bottom I have an icon with three dots (all settings), I click and other icons appear.
There I click on the antenna with the word channels.
After clicking, several options appear, including "Channel tuning and settings", of course we click on this inscription.
After clicking, we again have several options:
    Automatic tuning.
    Manual tuning.
    Program mode.
    Signal test.
I click on Program Mode and I have a choice.
    Terrestrial TV
    Cable TV
    Satellite TV
Of course, I click on terrestrial, then on the word manual tuning.
And there I have a choice:
    Digital terrestrial TV
    Analog terrestrial TV
Of course, we click on digital, a field appears, a board where we can enter and manually select the channel we are interested in.
After selecting a given channel (of course, a single channel), in the lower right corner of my TV I can observe the strength and quality of the channel being broadcast.
When everything is OK, I press: search, add, update, or something similar, but unfortunately I cannot say what exactly because I do not have an antenna connected to the receiver.
The operation should be repeated for each channel separately.

There must be something wrong with the antenna, because when I searched manually, the signal strength was only 6%.

You just need to check if the antenna is properly positioned for your mux. If it is set correctly, you need to check the installation, and if not, replace the antenna.

The antenna cable is also very loose. It's very hard to get into the TV, and it's very easy to get into the wall box and almost falls out.

Case solved - my wife accidentally disconnected the cable when entering the attic.

Case solved - my wife, while entering the attic, accidentally disconnected the cable because it was loosely inserted into the power supply.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around a user experiencing limited terrestrial TV reception, receiving only 6 channels on their LG 55SM8200PLA model after moving into a new house. Initial troubleshooting included performing a channel search, which did not resolve the issue. Responses suggested manually tuning to specific MUX channels based on local transmitter availability and checking the antenna installation. The user later identified that a loose antenna cable connection was the root cause of the problem, which was inadvertently disconnected during attic access. The issue was resolved by reconnecting the cable properly.

FAQ

TL;DR: Only 6 channels or 6% signal strength on your LG 55SM8200PLA? "There must be something wrong with the antenna." Reseat attic/power-supply cables, run manual tuning, scan k.46/45/26/9, and re-aim toward your MUX. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20135845]

Why it matters: This quick guide helps LG 55SM8200PLA owners restore full DVB-T/T2 channel lineups without a service call.

Quick Facts

Why does my LG 55SM8200PLA only find 6 channels on terrestrial TV?

You’re likely receiving just one multiplex due to a connection or antenna issue. Start by reseating every coax connection, especially the attic run and any masthead amplifier power supply. A disconnected power inserter caused this exact symptom and reconnecting restored channels. After fixing cabling, manually rescan the relevant MUX channels. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20137015]

How do I manually tune DVB-T/T2 MUXes on an LG 55SM8200PLA?

Use Manual Tuning.
  1. Settings > All Settings > Channels > Channel Tuning & Settings.
  2. Program Mode: Terrestrial > Manual Tuning > Digital.
  3. Enter the channel (k.), check strength/quality, then Search/Add. Repeat per MUX. [Elektroda, klm787, post #20134755]

Which channel numbers should I scan around Bełchatów/Łódź?

Scan these broadcast channels: k.46, k.45, k.26, and k.9. Enter each in Manual Tuning, verify signal strength and quality, then store. If any show weak or no signal, check your antenna alignment, cabling, or amplifier power. [Elektroda, LeDy, post #20134572]

What does 6% signal strength mean on my LG during manual search?

It indicates an unusable signal and points to a fault. Expect no stable video at 6%. Treat it as a physical-layer problem: loose connectors, unplugged power inserter, damaged cable, or mis-aimed antenna. Fix hardware first, then rescan. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20135845]

Can transmitter changes in the Łódź region break my existing setup?

Yes. Changes in transmitter locations can shift required channels and coverage. Some installs need antenna realignment or modernization to maintain full multiplex reception. After any work, perform manual tuning to the current channels and check signal. [Elektroda, andpol 33, post #20134544]

Can a loose cable or power supply really cause missing multiplexes?

Yes. A loose IEC/F connector or an amplifier power supply that’s unplugged or half-inserted can knock out most MUXes. Reseating the cable at the power supply restored full reception in the discussed case. Always check mechanical fit before rescanning. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20137015]

How do I check antenna alignment against the right MUX?

Use the Manual Tuning screen to view live strength/quality while slowly adjusting antenna aim. Small azimuth changes can recover lost multiplexes. “You just need to check if the antenna is properly positioned for your mux.” Lock alignment when readings stabilize, then store channels. [Elektroda, KapitanSTS, post #20135849]

Where is the signal meter on my LG TV?

Go to Settings > All Settings > Channels > Channel Tuning & Settings. Choose Program Mode: Terrestrial, then Manual Tuning > Digital. The strength and quality bars show live readings for the entered channel, helping alignment and fault checks. [Elektroda, klm787, post #20134755]

Should I use automatic search or manual after the DVB-T/T2 changes?

Use manual. Select the exact broadcast channel (k.) for each MUX, verify strength/quality, and store. “We do not search automatically, but manually.” This ensures you lock the correct multiplexes for your area after network changes. [Elektroda, klm787, post #20134232]

My LG finds channels in manual mode but doesn’t save them—what am I missing?

After entering the channel and confirming good signal, you must confirm with Search/Add/Update. Also ensure Program Mode is set to Terrestrial, not Cable or Satellite. Repeat the add action for each multiplex channel you want. [Elektroda, klm787, post #20134755]

The wall antenna socket feels loose—could that be the culprit?

Yes. A loose wall outlet or connector increases losses and can interrupt DC feed to an amplifier. In the reported case, the cable was loose and nearly falling out, and reseating resolved the missing channels. Tighten or replace faulty connectors. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20135863]

What’s the fastest checklist to restore full channel reception?

1) Reseat every coax connection, especially at the attic amplifier power supply. 2) Run Manual Tuning and store each found multiplex. 3) If still missing channels, fine-tune antenna aim and rescan. This sequence solved the thread’s issue. [Elektroda, mmichallabencki, post #20137015]
