Delonghi Magnifica XS ECAM 22.110. How to resolve general alarm (solid triangle), and flashing green led
Hello! The issue you're experiencing with your DeLonghi Magnifica XS ECAM 22.110, indicated by the general alarm (solid triangle) and flashing green LED, can often be tied to a few common scenarios. Let's break down the steps to diagnose and potentially solve this problem.
1. General Understanding: The solid triangle alarm combined with a flashing green light usually signifies a blockage or a system error that needs resetting. It's a general fault indicator, meaning it could be a few things.
2. First Steps: - Check for Obvious Blockages: Make sure there's no visible blockage in the coffee spouts, the infuser, or the grinder. Turn off the machine and unplug it before you check to avoid any accidents. - Water Tank and Drip Tray: Ensure the water tank is correctly inserted and filled. Also, check the drip tray and grounds container to ensure they are correctly placed and not overflowing.
3. The Infuser Reset: - The infuser may be stuck or out of position, which is a common issue. With the machine off but plugged in, open the service door, remove the grounds container and the drip tray. If the infuser is at a high position, gently push it down. If it's not moving, proceed with caution. There's a way to manually reset the infuser position, but let's ensure it's necessary before attempting.
4. Descaling: Sometimes, the internal sensors detect scale build-up, which can trigger the alarm. Have you descaled the machine recently? If not, it might be time to do a descaling cycle. Lime scale build-up can cause various issues, including sensor errors.
5. Power Cycle and Reset: Have you tried turning the machine off, waiting a few minutes, and turning it back on? Sometimes, a simple power cycle can clear error states.
Could you provide a bit more context? - When did the issue start happening? - Have you performed any maintenance or cleaning on it recently? - Are you comfortable with opening the machine if necessary, following safety precautions, of course, or would you prefer troubleshooting steps that don't involve opening up the machine?

Very comfortable with disassembling the machine. Have put machine in test mode. Upper and lower limit switches have been verified. Water tank and drip tray sensors have been verified. Boiler tested OK. All lights test OK. Water pump and Grinder test OK. Original fault was the infuser was stuck in the upmost position. I lowered the infuser manually in order to remove infuser and re-install. In test mode machine commands infuser up and down. Machine does not reset infuser upon normal power up. Red triangle illuminates solid and both green LEDs begin flashing upon turning main power on from main switch on back of machine.
Have you managed to solve the problem? I have exactly the same thing. In test mode everything works fine and when I exit test mode the red triangle is on plus the two green LEDs blink.
