    Hello,

I am facing an issue with my laptop; and I am hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot it. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000, and I am facing two major problems. First, the laptop gets extremely hot; especially near the CPU area, even when performing basic tasks like browsing the internet/working on a document. Second; it frequently shuts down unexpectedly without any warning. This usually happens when the laptop is under load; but it has also occurred a few times during idle periods.

I have taken the following steps; I cleaned the internal fans and vents to remove dust, applied new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU; updated all drivers and the BIOS to the latest versions, ran a full virus scan to rule out any malware, and checked for any software conflicts or high CPU usage in Task Manager. Even after these efforts, the overheating and shutdown issues are still there. I think it might be related to the motherboard/power supply, but I am not sure how to proceed from here. I have referred How-to-Troubleshoot-Overheating-Shutdown-or-Thermal-Issue-on-a-Dell-Computer-splunk documentation guide but still need help.

Are there any diagnostic tools/tests I can run to fix the issue more accurately? Would replacing the cooling system/adding additional cooling solutions help in this situation? Is it possible that there is a configuration that I have overlooked which could be causing these problems?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

    Best regards

Check if the heat pipe at the end of the heatsink heats up under load. If not you may have a defective heat pipe. Then only replace the cooling.

    >>21165634 Run Dell’s built-in diagnostics by pressing F12 during startup and selecting Diagnostics. This will check for hardware issues. And check for any loose or improperly connected components, like RAM or hard drive.
