    Hello,

I have a Delonghi Esam 2600 EX 1 coffee machine and need some help fixing it.

When i turn it on, the infuser goes to the top, the machine starts buzzing and the machine enters into fault mode with blinking lights on the coffee icons and continous red on the exclamation mark icon.

What I've done so far, is enter test mode and remove the covers to see what is happening, and I can see that the infuser goes to the very top, pushes the microswitch but keeps pushing until it makes a loud awful noise.
I have tested the top microswitch with a multimeter and there is continuity when it is not pushed in; If i push it while measuring, the multimeter stops beeping so i assume the upper microswitch works properly.
I have tested the cables going to the power board for continuity and they are fine.
I have also tried to do an encoder reset, but i had to turn it off after trying to do the rinse, because it just keeps pushing as in regular start up.

Everything else seems to be working fine in test mode, but i can't get it to turn on and do a rinse because it doesn't stop at the top.
AI: Have you checked if there is a lower microswitch or any other position sensor for the infuser, and if so, have you tested its operation and wiring as well?
The lower microswitch works properly, the LED lights up on the coffee icon as it should.
AI: In test mode, are you able to move the infuser up and down manually or via test commands, and does it stop at the correct positions, or does it always overrun the top position?
It does stop in the bottom position, and works fine but doesn't stop at the top after hitting the microswitch, it just keeps trying to push.

To reset the Magnifica Start (more compact model): Switch off the machine but connect it to the power supply (standby mode), then hold down the "Steam", "Espresso (one cup)" and "x2 (two cups)" buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. A beep and a flashing beep indicate that the reset was successful.

    Hello,

Thank you for your detailed answer.

I have tried to reset exactly as you said and the reset was successful but the issue was not solved.
It still tries to push up as if not seeing the microswitch.

What I have noticed, however, is that when the top microswitch is engaged, the button for the elevator up movement is flashing sometimes at random.
When the elevator hits the lower microswitch, the corresponding button's LED is continuously lit, signaling that the microswitch is engaged, opposed to the upper microswitch which is lighting up at random only when engaged. Hope this makes sense.

What could cause the top microswitch to be detected randomly? During tests, it never detects hitting it.
I kept trying to push up, then down, then up again trying to hit a random detection, but it did not stop not even once.

I suspect it's the power board. Is there something I can do or measure without soldering? I currently do not have tools for soldering to remove components to measure properly.

    What do you think?

I appreciate you taking the time to read and trying to help. I wish you good health.
