How to Design Ball Path and LED Circuit for Table Tennis Game Using 74 Series ICs?

Hi everyone,
I'm a btech electrical engieering student. I have to design a table tennis game with 74 series Ics on breadbords.
I'm totally messed up in designing the ball path curcuit considering the all casses of ball ie.,
1. player doesnt hit the ball
2. player hits the ball and ball doesnt cross the net
3. player hits the ball beyond the court.
4. player hits the ball correctly.

I'm using a mux to select between the 4cases.

please suggest me any ideas to design the leds circuit..

I don't know what a "btech" electrical engineering student is.

What is this game supposed to do? Is it just supposed to tally and display the score, or somehow participate in the game? What are the inputs and outputs of the unit you need to design.

There is no way to suggest a LEDs circuit since we don't know what the LEDs are supposed to indicate.

Btech mean I'm an undergraduate student.

I have to design the real TT game on the breadbord.
I'm desiging the game as cpu v/s player. For the cpu to hit i'm using random nunber generator+ magnitude comparator to generate zeroes and ones randomly. For the player i'm using the switch. By the use of two RNG's i can generate 00,01,10,11 from this by the use of mux i can be able to select from the 4 cases as metioned earlier.

Here LEDs are used to show the ball path between th players.
I'm stuck at designing the ball path interms of digital circuit for the selected case.

I can use finite state machines concept but harware is becoming more and more.

It seems your random number generator is more complicated than necessary. If you already have random numbers, you don't need a magnitude comparator to make random bits. Just use the LSB of your random number or something if you want a random bit stream. Even relatively short sequences of pseudo random numbers will be good enough for a game such that the human player won't notice the pattern.

Since the LEDs are supposed to show the ball path, does that mean they are a grid of pixels? You really need to be more clear what you are trying to design and what exactly the problem you are stuck on is. It does sound like this is quite complicated for doing in just 74xxx series logic.

If the problem is related to how to plot a straight line in a array of pixels, look up something called Bresenham's algorithm.

No, they are not a grid of pixels.
As per now I thought of using 6 LEDs in a straight line (3 in each court) and got up with an idea of using these to display the ball as per the 4 cases.
But I didnt get the circuit logic.

As you said using 74 series ICs complicated, do you know any other way by using the breadboard and gates?

OK, so what exactly is the problem you are stuck on?

As for something other than 74xxx series logic, I'd probably do this in a microcontroller. However, it would still help to have a clear definition of the inputs and output this circuit is supposed to have.
