Can anyone tell me what size resistor is used on an AC fence charger...where the plug comes into the charger it jumps from one side to the other...I guess lightning blew it out..

Do you have a picture or schematic you can upload? I am not sure what you mean by jumps from one side to the other.

What model of fence charger is it?

after I went and got it, I listed wrong...the resistor is welded in where the 3 prong chopper plugs in...it is a very old "Unico Model 2-4-D Rocket" I will try and load a pic for you.

I'm sorry I have no idea at the right terms...
but the resistor that got burned ...goes to the little red wire on the left and then crosses over to the yellow whatever you call it...it is where the 3 prong chopper plugs in...
Thanks for any help...I know I can solder this back if I can find out the right size resistor to put back1

This charger looks very old I doubt they are even around anymore.

You know, it may not have been a resistor. It may have been a MOV to protect the transformer from input transients. Thus, you can run this without it and it will be O.K. For a while.

Also, you may want to check how NEW units are built. This is a VERY slow moving product application space and there has been very little change in their design over the past few thousand years.
