RTC programming,

Hello ,

I have learned all about RTC programming but i am just stuck about the action on the AS, DS , R/W and i don't know what to do with these pins to set and receive time ... i am making a digital clock and my work is interrupted by those pins.. so can any body please give me an example to

* turning on oscillator
* setting time mode
* setting the time 12:00
* getting updated time

I have read the RTC section from muhamad ali mazidi book but it doesnt include any action on those pins.

please provide code so that i can go further.

i am using AT89C52 for my project DS12887 RTC and Muhammad Ali Mazidi book .

What don't you understand from the datasheet?

It has timing diagrams that show exactly what states each of the pins need to be in for both reading and writing data.

Come back with a more specific question if you don't understand the timing diagrams or pin descriptions.

i cant understand timing diagram properly.....

It has some example code as well as jpegs that show what the code is doing with the pin voltages versus time.
