For that you need max 232 ic..so u can interface easily with p89v51rd2 micro controller...and before move on interfacing first of all go with data sheet of that micro controller .. ok..

You'll surely need a max232 with a couple of caps between the mcu and the rs232 connector... hope the schematic i've attached helps.. rxd is usually pin 10 n txd is usually pin 11 on most 8051 based chips.. be sure to have seperate grounds fr the mcu n rs232..
