Hello,
I am software engineer who was initially trained as an electronics practical engineer.
After a long time of only dealing with code I wanted to do some personal electronic home projects. I started looking at the parts I need and I kinda started wondering about the prices I saw.
For instance, TI's CC3000 board costs 35-45$ but you can get the most complicated piece of the board, the MCU for only 10$ (or get it with a free sample).
Same goes with the arduino boards. They are pricey compared to the wireup board I assembeled a long time ago that does the same things (less conveniently).
I was just wondering why is a PCB board the you simply mount the MCU upon it with some more resistors, capacitors, and pins becomes so expensive?
Just curious.
