How to convert AC to DC

Hi everyone! I am Julius a 400L student. This is my first post a new member of this great forum. I want to know a step by step practical guide on how to convert AC to DC. I joined this forum for me to properly learn (practical) from the masters here and it will be my pleasure if I can have atleast 90% of help I need in this forum to succeed in my future career. I am having less than 1 year to finish my program at the university I am currently enrolled. Waiting for your positive response. Thanks.

I think for a good start you look at how a power supply works. It consists of four stages I believe, from the main AC source down to the output terminals of the power supply which is already in DC. The highlight part of it is the diode bridge which serves as a rectifier. The rectification stage is where the conversion from AC to DC starts.
