A split phase motor, 75 Hp 230 V is getting locked and refuses to rotate. I believe that this may be cause by an absent phase. What could cause a static magnetic pole to develop so as to lock the rotor? Please help. Thanks.

Hi Prateek,

Split-phase motor is made of up two windings which serves different purposes. First, the starter winding that runs the motor from inactive state. Second, the main winding which keeps the motor running with lower energy requirements. You may have problem with those two windings if it is an electrical/electronics issue.
