I have made this project and it works fine, but the problem if this reacts to just about every noise, as can be expected. I have tried playing around with the gain of the amplifier, bit it still not reliable. Is there another way of filtering in just the cry of a baby and leaving out most of the other noise. All the ideas I have seen elsewhere are based on DSP etc which I dont know anything about.

Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to get a directional microphone and aim it straight at the noise source (baby).
