I am not an engineer, but I have a little knowledge of basic electronics and often take things apart and figure out how to fix them myself.
There is a video game i enjoy playing called "World of Tanks". It has millions of players around the world, of all ages. I met a player from the US the other day who has one arm. Unfortunately, the game is very difficult to play with one arm as the controls consist of the keyboard, and a mouse at the same time. This player told me that it helps him deal with his PTSD, and I watched a video of him on youtube playing the game with one hand.
I would like to make a video game controller consisting of 4-10 pedals, that would allow him to use his hand for the mouse at all times, and the keyboard controls could be assigned to the controls at his feet.
I was going to buy a $20 controller (like the one used on Xbox) from Ebay, take it apart, and rewire it to some pedals, but the buttons on these controls have pressure sensors on them them instead of a switch. I went to some of the websites that sell components for "hobby" electronics, but the price is just too high, and the parts don't seem to have a practical size.
if there is anyone out there interested in giving me a little bit of guidance, or collaborating on this project, I would be grateful for your efforts.
I have attached a PDF i made of the basic design. WASD represent the keys of the keyboard.
-Is there a circuit board i can buy somewhere that is already set up for attachment to USB
-can you recommend some switches that i can use that would be the "on/off" for the pedals?
I hope there is someone out there who can help! thanks!
