Hello, I have a simple question and I need a simple answer please:
We are building a coke calciner plant in Saudi Arabia which will produce 666 Ktons of coke. During the process, a huge quantity of steam will be generated from the existing boiler and it will be used in the steam turbine to generate 70 MW of power. The plant total consumption is estimated of 15 MW and we will be obliged to return the excess to the utility provider grid.
We are in the detailed engineering phase of the project and almost finalized the power scheme but we still have a remaining question without solution.
Our interface with the utility provider can be summarized as follows:
1- We will require plant energizing from them to run our plant during commissioning and startup
2- After startup, we will start our own power generation and use our generator with 15 MW maximum load, and the excess of 55 MW will be returned to the grid.
3- In case of our generator shutdown, we have a backup agreement with the utility provider to provide us with necessary power.
4- In case of the utility total blackout and if our plant is running at his full production capacity, we will consume 15 MW maximum but what we will do with the 55 MW remaining?
Note: we are using only one steam turbine and one generator.
If we reduce the generator production, we cannot reach less than 15 MW as per supplier guarantees so again, what can we do with the 55 MW remaining ?
