Power Generation and Power Demands

Hi everybody.

I have some very silly questions I am trying to get some answers for.

Most generators are rated the maximum power that can produce.

Let say we have a power plant with a generator which provides power for our small town.
The generator is rated for max power 2000kwatts

Power plant is located next to river and uses turbine to generate power.Power plant and small town are next to each other. Let say currently our small town needs 1000kwatts.


River -turbine--Generator----------Smalltown

Since we need a lot less power than maximum rated power of our generator, therefore we must make our generator produce less ( about 1000kwatts) .
My question is what would happen if generator is running at 2000kwatts, will our smalltown which needs only 1000kwatts, blow up ?

Let say our generator as shown above, is producing 1000kwatts. Our smalltown needs 1000kwatts currently. Let assume small town now requires 1500 kwatts. How does this new power requirement by small town affect generator?
How do we make generator to produce not 1000kwatts but 1500 kwatts. Do we make our turbine rotate faster than before to make generator produce more power ?

What if our small town requires more than 2000k watts ; the maximum rated power of generator? how does this affect the generator? will it shutdown, blow up ?
