im building a analog data logger , im using spark funs logomatic v2 its a serial/analog data logger with built in sd capability can be powered externally or with a battery , i believe its very versatile and will suit what im doing , basically im using it to log binary data from magnetic tape , i want to incorporate it into a larger device by Panasonic , but the issue im having the Panasonic ZUPG105701 Reader Head is using a two track reader head it has 5 connections to solder to on the back of it but seems to generate a interference like a significant amount where the data im retrieving is useless , im thinking maybe the fifth pin is some kind of ground im failing to incorporate because from my experience. reader heads of this type the polarity dosen't even matter it just interprets the direction the data is , i know this reader head impacts other devices to near it so its definitely generating the interference . im more of a hobbyist and only understand basic concepts so im lost how to get rid of it . panasonic is either unwilling to post or never posted the data sheet for this reader head either , this is the logger im using and im powering it with 5v i believe .
here is the data sheet , https://cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Widgets/LPC2141_42_44_46_48.pdf
hopefully someone can help .
